Went to our borough council meeting last night where the Borough Administrator announced the Fed Govt has given money to the State Govt to dole out for 0% loans to the towns for infrastructure,
with a carrot that it MIGHT  become a grant down the road.

Caveat, the $ must be spent on sanitary sewer projects or water mains and the plan must be back to the state by 2/28.
A month to run around and find a project so the town can get take advantage of it, if you consider borrowing money an advantage.

Meantime we have a bridge out in town that has affected the local business's and caused traffic problems that needs rebuilding. That would help local business and create some construction jobs if it could be applied there.

Typical government program, throw some of our own $$$$ around and hope it sticks somewhere wether it's needed or not.

Anyone associated with funding acts exactly like this. It's an extreme waste but people have the mentality "if we don't take it and use it, then it won't look like we have the need. So, we won't get funding in the future."

When I taught part-time in the band program at our local high school, this is exactly what we dealt with every year. If we didn't use all the money we received and ask for just a little bit more, then cuts could be guaranteed for the next year.
