Spent the weekend out with the Scouts...figured I'd share a few pics. Cold weekend with temps in the single digits at night but it was a good weekend all in all.

The Campsite...our own little slice of heaven :hihi:

Kids had a blast and stayed warm and well fed.....we always eat good on a campout. Its a different kind of camping in the winter and everybody should experience it......

We have another one planned in february....got a cabin for this one (everybody should experience this....but once a year is definitely enough), Ice fishing trip with the boys.

great stuff. I only camped out a few times during the winter and that was on the rim of the grand canyon. It was in the teens but we were prepared so it was a lot of fun. Looks like the kids had fun.

We try and plan a trip a month ourselves too...had 2 cancelled this year because of weather.

Canoe trip got cancelled because of a huge rainstorm (Not smart to take kids on a river when they are predicting 10" of rainfall.)

And a Scout Skills weekend got cancelled because of the Ice Storm.

Gonna be down in RI for an Indian Lore weekend in April at Yawgoog.

The Sled was made by the scouts in the troop a few years back. Saw some real nic ones at the camporee this past weekend....one was all fir with Cedar Strip Runners.....real cool.

Great pics, sounds like a good time was had by all! You just need a team of dogs for that sled!

Boy that brings back some memories. I was a scout till almost a senior in high school and we did a lot of winter camping, The Deep Freeze, The Polar Bear and The Klondike Derby are some of the winter jamborees I can remember, I still have most of the patches in a box somewhere. Great times, and I learned a lot about how to survive comfortably in the winter woods.

Man I miss those trips, both my boys Eagled and are off at college.
We did several trips up to Canada and NH for winter camping , all in snow caves. I think when your camping like that just about anything tastes great . We did have a few great stews and cobblers out of dutch ovens. Keep up the good work Good scoutmasters are getting hard to find:claps::claps:

Looks like good weather for the Lone Tree Klondike! It was mighty cold for the one's a couple of weeks ago. Aquila's is in Peabody on the 14th.

I was in G'town last week for Petrie's Wood Badge beading, have someone show you the "pie in the face" pictures. :rotflmao:

Great pics. Looks just like our trip to Flagstaff on 1/9/09. 13 degrees at camp popcicle. All tents no snow cave this time. We had a great time snow boarding and sledding. Had 3 rookies that trip. The food does taste better outdoors. We had chilli for dinner, (helps heat the tents :rotflmao:)
