Anybody tried the lex or Makati lures sold on NJ tackle? Price is pretty good.

as far as the lex's, you get what you pay for. the finish doesn't hold up all that well. never tried the makatis, but haven't anything good about them.

I have caught keeper bass in the spring on the lex 1oz surfsters but they don't always work right out of the package. You will probably need to play with the lip by bending it to get them to swim. Case in point the first one I bought would roll over when retrived and work like a popper as the lip would be on the waters surface when upside down and chug. Funny thing was I got one of my nicest spring bass on that plug the first time I used it as the chugging action drove that fish mental. He slammed the thing several times before hooking up. Overall I agree with the previous comment.

I recently bought a box full of Makatis plugs (may be about 3 dz?) after getting tired of refinishing Gibbs. Some plugs came with dull finish so I sent them back and came back with good finish. The only thing I did was I put some more epoxy on the eyes and cover the lead weight. The prices are so good that If I loose some to toothsy friends I will be still better off than loosing Good Old Gibbs.:D :p :)

First one I got from Tim swam upside down......no matter how I played with the lip. He gladly replaced it.

The new one swims correctly and I love the wiggle, but they don't cast for $*it.........

I also get many chewed up by blues so replacing them gets pricey. July thru August are bad for rats in my area. I use alot of Atom products. Cheap and durable, but not very repairable. Hoping even if I have to revarnish the wood lures I might be better off. I did try yozuri a few times but the blues destroyed every one I had at 12 bucks a pop! The hooks also damage the finish after 50 or so casts.
