View Full Version : Go ahead have a laugh at my stupidity!
crash 02-17-2009, 08:14 PM So I was assempling some plugs for the fest last night and putting them in the rafters. As I'm pulling my hand down after hanging one I pulled a true dum dum move, caught my hand on the belly hook. buried it to the bend:whackin: Wife says hospital I say get the camera. We took the pic after I had ripped it back and started pushing it back through the skin. So yeah, be careful and pay attention.

I've come close to doing that before a few times, good thing I have tough skin, rusty hooks are even worse.
eastendlu 02-17-2009, 08:32 PM I got myself a while back and put hook protectors on all my hanging plugs.Lucky it almost went all the way through easy push and snip.
BigFish 02-17-2009, 08:46 PM Thats why I like the tubing for hook protectors. I have done that a few times as I have some hanging also and thank goodness I had the tubing on the barbs!
Raven 02-17-2009, 08:52 PM just be glad that hook was semi sterile and wasn't just in a Bass.
everyone has their battle scars... maybe your hook protectors
should be red instead of Clear.... :jester:
numbskull 02-17-2009, 09:11 PM I've done that several times a year hanging plugs. Fortunately almost all mine are barbless. Barbed treble hooks scare me.

Yup, I've been crushing barbs all night. Lesson learned.
Tagger 02-17-2009, 11:08 PM Done that ... hurts ,, but at the same time feels like setting the hook on a fish ..
fishbones 02-17-2009, 11:41 PM Ouch! I did the same exact thing back in November hanging a plug up in the basement. I still haven't gotten around to putting hook protectors on my plugs, but this is a good reminder.
JFigliuolo 02-18-2009, 12:13 PM guilty.
Swimmer 02-18-2009, 12:22 PM Geez Crash I am sorry to see that. My wife was in the office a couple of weeks ago where the computor is located, and I showed her a pic that one you had sent in with the hook completely embedded. She looks at it and say who in thier right mind would stop to take a picture of that before going to the ER. She just couldn't understand the value thee pic has to all of us. Hope it heals quickly.
Raven 02-18-2009, 12:52 PM guilty.
Crash it happens to all of us...
just so you won't feel so bad...
One day my darn cat got into my fresh water box
thinking these look fun to play with... :hihi:
she pulled out all the lures and had them all tangled and
and stuck in the carpet.... It was a nightmare...
it took me forever it seemed to straighten out the mess.
well next to the tackle was this old green parachute
that i used as a camping cover...
thinking that i was done with the lure mess i grabbed it and was
whirling it into a ball real fast to put it away in the closet.
damn it to hell if that cat didn't have one plug hidden in the chute
and because my hands were moving so fast i buried the hook
into my palm and couldn't get it out myself.
off to the hospital i went... DOH :realmad:
BIG TIM 02-18-2009, 02:33 PM I am also guilty... Heal quickly my friend!

winchmaster 02-26-2009, 10:19 PM Welcome to the self hooking club. Many of us are members but only a few of us have the thought to take a picture. You can get a lot of mileage out of a self hooking. The picture of mine is on my back screen of my phone. When someone ask me if I have hooked anything lately I reply yes! and open the phone!
