JohnR,

Is there a way to check when someone has read a private message you have sent them?

Since we have limited space, it would be nice to check if they've even read the message before sending out a reminder about something.

I'm talking about "Sent" messages. So if I sent you a Private Message, is there a way for me to check if you've read it yet.

When you compose a message if you look in the section titled Additional Options at the bottom you will see a checkbox titled "Request a read receipt for this message" check it before you send a message and you should be fine

Yes you can tell if it was opened by the icon next to the post.
It's a solid blue envelope.
You need to be in your SENT folder instead of your inbox.
