Just wanted to say that a great time was had by all today at the annual PlugFest! What a great way to spend a cold February day! To all I had the chance to speak with and spend time with thanks for a great day! To all the builders that were there....what a mind blowing array of insane work! Speaking of insane......I realized what a screwed up bunch we are when I glanced across the room and saw Dr. Numbscull holding x-rays of plugs up against the window!!!:jump1: What a great form of insanity and I enjoy every minute of it with all of you! Big thanks go out to JohnR, MikeCC, Slipknot, PNG, ThrowingTimber, Swimmer and everyone else that worked so hard to make today a fantastic experience!:uhuh:

Thanks Guys!

I only stayed for about an hours but my 7 year old son was in awe of all of the plugs. He watched one of the plug demos and I dont think he moved for 5 mins.

He wanted to buy some plug kits so I gave him 20$ and he bought a CCT popper and two salty's kits.

When we got home he was driving me nuts to put the kits together and paint them....i think he is hooked

Thanks s-b as we had a great time and I am glad I drove all the way down!

Sounds like a good one. Sorry I missed it. I for one would like to see if we can somehow schedule a little better next year so that we don't have two great events conflicting as we did with Plugfest and PISC Fundraiser today. Winter is too long to have to choose between those two.....

There are s few of you that did not collect winnings so we'll need to work something else up.

Simply fantastic :humpty:

You guys put on a great, awesome event. I have been wanting to attend for a few years and really wish I had made the trip earlier. Great to see some folks I haven't in a awhile and meet some new ones. Wish I had more time to spend as I didn't do alot of what I wanted to with so much going on. It was a sensory overload with the plugs. So much incredible stuff being built nowadays. The classic plugs are one thing I do not get to see a bunch of and really enjoyed that part. Got a mess of great stuff in swaps and wish I had more stuff to do a bit more trading. Got to meet two people who have inspired me to build plugs Capesams and Mac. It was a pleasure meeting you both and enjoyed the time we had to talk immensely. Again, had a great time today and will be making this a yearly trip.

Tony,
Nice meeting you also. You are probably one of a handful of guys on our coast who could correctly identify what it was. Later on slipknot took a break from turning and we were able to put the trombone to work downstairs. He (and a few others gathered around) grasped the idea pretty quickly and may put it to use this coming season.

Afterwards as I was washing eel slime of my hands I had the pleasure of meeting SauerKraut. We had a very nice conversation about needlefish, eels and striped bass. He is a great guy to talk with. I could easily see myself casting with him and Numbskull (and Flap).

Speaking of Numbskull, how could I possibly refuse a darter when it comes in Block Island Green? Great work George. First chance during the squid run it will get wet. George, we can make a Block trip work if you really want to - I'll guide. Just bring Sauerkraut along in case the bass are eel crazy.

Flap - What a wonderful piece of artwork you gifted me - my highlight of the day. My wife has a degree in Art History and she absolutely loved it. You have great talent Steve!

Tagger - Your imitation of the needle that took my largest bass is special right down to the color. Looking forward to our visit in November.

To the rest of the gang who put on Plugfest - great job. It was jam packed at times - almost as crowded as SW Bar on a November Saturday evening when the cows are "IN". Had a great time.

Thanks

DZ

Thanks to everyone who put this thing together. I know you guys worked you asses off for us. It was very cool.
Thanks Chum for driving. You guys may not know it, but Chum is a "professional driver" and he just loves cruisin'. I love riding along listening to NIB snore:spin: Seriously, hangin with NIB and Chumbucket is like having the Golden Ticket to meet the best striper fishermen on the coast. Thanks for all the introductions.
Congratulations to the winners of the plug building contest. All that stuff was off the hook! I see that I'm really going to have to sharpen up my skills if I hope to win one of those certificates next year.
I wasn't in the room 5 minutes when I met Numbskull and he gave me an excellent Musso style darter:btu:. Thanks Numby (or do you prefer Mr Skull?) I know just the rip for that plug.
The displays were just incredible. The plugs on the tables and in the boxes represented the best of history and the best of what's to come for our obsession.
I missed most of the food, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to hang outside in the cold shooting the bull with Capesams :spin: I did get in on some of that shepards pie casserole made by John R's wife. That stuff was yummy

All in all, I had a great time. Saw a bunch of old friends and made a bunch of new ones. Who could ask for more?

To funny, for thoose that didn't know the magnet was an attempt to keep the belly hook from causing diggers/scratches while casting.....but if you looked there is a scratch that was caused by the one fish I did catch with it. Someone (sorry my memory fails me) outside gave me a simple and yet easier solution....a rubber band:rollem:. Thanks to all who organized this epic event. Great way to get more of fix on the addiction. Thanks to Numbskull for his tutatorial on needle swimming and the Blood red darter, Z for the trombone lesson and PNG on the offset turning demo. We had 12 members from CSA attend , many who were first timers. They were impressed for sure. Woody took the restoration award. First Plugfest event. Next year's will definately be crowded. Somewhat like they said in JAWS, "We need a bigger hall"!!

Him and his brother were bending my ear pretty good about plugmaking. They were talking to me then. Nice guys. We talked about all your favorite spots once I told him I knew you and I was originally from Franklin:bl:

for such a small room i missed a lot. I got hemmed in most of the time, but still had a ball. I missed the plug turning by Chris , again. Going to have to have a private lesson one of these days. Didn't even realize Karl was a no show till after the fact, missed the wood guy , missed most of the food, missed the plug loading but did get one off Dave. Need to have name tags again. I am sure I met lots of people who I have no idea of their names, still.

Plugfest was fun, I wish I could have stayed longer...missed seeing a lot of attendees. There was quite a mob there! As always, there is some fine work displayed, I am always surprised .

Thanks to numbskull for the plugs. Please PM me your address, I will send you a couple.

Just wanted to thank everyone involved! John R nice to meet you, Mike thanks for the discount, it made my wife happy. Ted thanks for the plug, love your stuff. Larry i guess im not a lurker anymore. After a year of mistakes I may find something too offer. And mostly to all the great plug builders that share their talents to us new guys. Didn't know what to expect, will next year. Because of you Rockfish i have two things that consume my life, the pursuit of the stripes and turning for that pursuit! Should have never watched that HOW TO pictorial, and i thought i was going to save money! Thanks again. hope i didn't step on too many toes. Oh ya also thanks for any votes i got for the squidster. My first creation! Happy Trails

Great job by all. Mike, Barb and Felicia Thomas, Slip, JR, and everyone else who put this together.

Thanks to Goo Goo Man for the plug and tips. Same to Wahlie. Larry it was nice chatting. Raven hope ya got your car squared away.

Felt crappy Friday and ended up leaving very early Saturday. By the time I got home I was running a temp of 102 degrees with all the aches to go with it.

Nice to see Eddie, and chat with numby for a few. Sorry I missed the demos, but glad I left when I did.

Hope to see you guys again in the future and thanks again.

Ditto chumbucket.

Every now and again I run into a fishing visitor on a MV beach and notice some amazing plug on the end of the fellows line, I ask him who made it and he says "chumbucket"...I always respond the same...some day I am going to get me a chumbucket plug...someday. We probably passed with a few feet of each other. I was easy to pick out....I was with Mrs. Sandman one of the only few females roaming around. I was looking to say hi to a few other guys but I could not track them down in the mob, it was busy.
next time...

Bigfish... I did say HI and you said hi back...but you were involved with 3 other guys and had your hands full...next time.
