View Full Version : Are you getting the spring boat itch?
blaruffa 02-22-2009, 12:45 PM With the changing of the clocks in 2 weeks and having gone to the boat show...I have the boating itch bad. Been doing boat related project all weekend, from building a radar mount, to cleaning and rebuilding reels.
What are you doing to help cure the itch ;) ?
clcharette 02-22-2009, 01:55 PM I'm still a few weeks away from starting.
I need to purchase 2 new batteries, new strap for winch, new fire extinguisher. The trailer needs 6 new rollers, haven't checked the lights yet but they probably need something.
I still have some weld issues on the t-top that need fixing, anygood welders in the area?.
Pre season maintenance sucks but the benefits later are worth it.
blaruffa 02-22-2009, 03:57 PM I have a battery that was weak last year that I threw on the charger and it is not taking a charge, so I am due for a new battery.
HE[[ YES !!!!!
Getting ready to order the new electronics and thru hull x-ducer.
Already bought oil for the season.
Looking for a new Tuna rod, and I'm ready to order another 50W reel.
So I guess you could say I'm trying to scratch that itch...:kewl::kewl:
CaptMike 02-23-2009, 08:14 AM definitely doing some work to the new boat this weekend. Not sure what yet but I'll probably find something to break/fix.

Bass Pro has a promotion going on starting in a few days. I believe you can save $100 on this reel, might want to check it out.
MarshCappa 02-23-2009, 10:02 AM I took the cover off the skiff a couple of weeks ago when we had that warm stretch. I also turned the motor over on the muffs and was happy that she ran good. I'll probably splash her in March or sooner. My buddy has an oyster farm and I could help him out seeing I slurp enough of them for free! My reel is ready to go and I need to purchase another one for a new/used rod I'm getting soon. I'm definetly itchy to get out again.:jump1:
MakoMike 02-24-2009, 10:08 AM Getting ready tow ork on the boat, but it was too cold this past weekend.
OK boys, calm down it's still February. At least till tomorrow...........
Cool Beans 02-28-2009, 09:13 AM I can't take it anymore!!!
Spent most of the day, workin' on the electronics hooking up the new gps and stereo, mounted my ol' Scotty downriggers (used in Washington for salmon), fired her up to burn out all the fuel stabilizer and if its not too windy this afternoon,, going to take the family out for a spring test drive for an hour or so,....
Scout 02-28-2009, 12:31 PM I also can't stand it anymore so I spent some bucks (helpin' out the country! lame excuse I know) ordered me a long longed for Power Pole for my shallow water stripers.
We're a funny breed. If we can't fish, we piss away money on more stuff then we'll ever need (at least I do)
Raider Ronnie 02-28-2009, 03:50 PM Calm down, it's still feb and we have snow coming the next few days :bl:

If this were ancient grease you'd be slayed!
Slinger 03-02-2009, 01:52 PM Put the tires back on, removed jackstands, uncovered the boat. Wanted to get it in for some glass work before putting the seats and electronics back and then..... 12" of crap!

The one thing you can count on about weather in New England is that you can't count on the weather in New England, I'm keeping the wrap on!
reddfish24 03-04-2009, 10:06 AM wraps and parkas til end of march i bet.
MakoMike 03-04-2009, 11:33 AM Might start compunding and waxing the hull this coming weekend, it's supposed to be warm out.
buckman 03-04-2009, 12:31 PM I have been spending way to much time protesting for global warming.
RIJIMMY 03-04-2009, 01:43 PM last year I was so anxious I uncovered in early March which was a bad move.
I'll uncover the first week of April, wash/wax and paint the bottom. Then some minor work. 3rd week of April I plan on getting her engine ready and tuned up. Also live well needs to be replaced. In the water the 4th week of April and fishing the first weekend in May.
blaruffa 03-08-2009, 04:46 PM It was so hard this weekend, not to go down to the boat yard and uncover the boat and start my projects. I can;t wait til she is the water on April 7th. :)
