I use a 7 ft. st croix rated at 4-8 lb test 5/8 oz lure w/ a penn captiva....and I've taken fish to 12 lbs on it...now if i hooked up to a 40 lb striper...that would be light tackle....but not for the spring schoolies I target with it MAKAI 02-25-2009, 08:18 PM 6 foot tournament with whisker 1300 loaded with 6# test. small sluggos and plugs. taken many real nice fish with it. . . most fun. numbskull 02-25-2009, 08:29 PM Watched a young guy whip a fish close to 40 lbs with an 8 wt fly rod and an original Loop reel (no drag but your palm) at Lobsterville one night. I consider that light. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
