I'm still depressed about missing Plugfest thanks to ebola or something like it, but I got to work on a little spring stuff...some little spooks, a herring flat bottom pencil and a little baby squid needle that I think I will be using quite a bit early on ...and a needle that I tried to make look like an actual needle fish

those baby squids look friggin awesome. I see a lot of hook ups with those the fin on the green one is outstanding.. and the rigged rod makes me want to start walking the beaches even more..

haaaa, Ecdu ...if you look closely you'll see that I drew some inspiration from you and Bigfish, I looked at your tutorial very closely and tried something similar on the herring, not nearly as good as your results but it was a fun process....

just a quick note...I was out of eyes so I made all of them using flex coat and micro pearl powders and some gold leaf flake in the eyes of the needles that I found in my kids craft stuff...that was fun to do but it takes a while for the flex coat to cure...good to have for a back up in a pinch ......

hey scott- can you tell me about the sealed belly hook hanger design you are using here. I assume they are wired in to your thru-wire and sealed with some type of epoxy/wood putty. I want to use this type of hanger on my next batch of wooden Smack-its to stop the plugfrom taking on water thru the belly hook hole...

the pupils are just black paint but I bet if I rumaged around Michaels long enough I could find some small black things to use that would be better, then they'd be the same size without a lot of effort :) actually, now that I think about it I should have found some shiny black plastic and made pupils with my 3 hole punch :wall:

belly hanger- just bend a wire in a figure "8" to fit and twist it in the middle to run north /south for the through wire...fill with QuickWood from Home Depot or whatever you use for filler....
