View Full Version : some spring stuff
scottw 03-06-2009, 07:23 AM I'm still depressed about missing Plugfest thanks to ebola or something like it, but I got to work on a little spring stuff...some little spooks, a herring flat bottom pencil and a little baby squid needle that I think I will be using quite a bit early on ...and a needle that I tried to make look like an actual needle fish
blondterror 03-06-2009, 07:39 AM those baby squids look friggin awesome. I see a lot of hook ups with those the fin on the green one is outstanding.. and the rigged rod makes me want to start walking the beaches even more..
numbskull 03-06-2009, 07:55 AM You're depressed about missing plugfest?!!! After seeing this stuff the rest of us are going catatonic about you missing it.

scottw 03-06-2009, 04:11 PM thanks guys, getting itchy to fish and the water was rolling in nice at the beach this morning....the spooks and squid are about 5"-1.5ounces...the pencil 7" 2.1 ounces and the larger needle 2.5 ounces

beautiful PLUGS
ecduzitgood 03-06-2009, 06:06 PM Those look great!! I am starting to take notes so I will know who has what I WANT !!! I'll be watching you.
scottw 03-06-2009, 06:35 PM haaaa, Ecdu ...if you look closely you'll see that I drew some inspiration from you and Bigfish, I looked at your tutorial very closely and tried something similar on the herring, not nearly as good as your results but it was a fun process....
Tagger 03-06-2009, 07:02 PM Paint looks very RM Smith ... Pencil is cool ..
scottw 03-06-2009, 07:14 PM just a quick note...I was out of eyes so I made all of them using flex coat and micro pearl powders and some gold leaf flake in the eyes of the needles that I found in my kids craft stuff...that was fun to do but it takes a while for the flex coat to cure...good to have for a back up in a pinch ......
Clammer 03-07-2009, 01:00 AM those arn,t small ;;
T/t tell ya .. we have plenty of lead .. he was suppose to pick it up over a month ago :nopain:
scottw 03-07-2009, 07:49 AM small-ish? :bl:
blondterror 03-07-2009, 08:22 AM hey scott- can you tell me about the sealed belly hook hanger design you are using here. I assume they are wired in to your thru-wire and sealed with some type of epoxy/wood putty. I want to use this type of hanger on my next batch of wooden Smack-its to stop the plugfrom taking on water thru the belly hook hole...

Thats impressive ,, They look pissa ..what the black dot ?
scottw 03-07-2009, 09:49 AM the pupils are just black paint but I bet if I rumaged around Michaels long enough I could find some small black things to use that would be better, then they'd be the same size without a lot of effort :) actually, now that I think about it I should have found some shiny black plastic and made pupils with my 3 hole punch :wall:
belly hanger- just bend a wire in a figure "8" to fit and twist it in the middle to run north /south for the through wire...fill with QuickWood from Home Depot or whatever you use for filler....
