Hi, I was wondering if anyone thinks that it's a good idea for a person to go on fishing expeditition on a renatl kayak. I never have done it before.

don't go alone, also play it very safe. i wouldn't try fishing your first time out. get a feel for the yak first.

I agree with redcrbbr too. Also, wear a PFD. Too many people got their name on the news last season.

I don't know how mobile you are but there's a shop that rents them in Seabrook, NH. You can stay in the Hampton River estuary where it's protected and still find plenty of bass.

I think you should practice a couple times in open water to get use to it, and flip it a few times. When your loaded with gear and you go over things can get a little disorganized, you want to know what to expect before it happens.
I have lost some gear overboard when kayak fishing. (rod reel lures ect) It is fun to be able to paddle out to the feeding school but it you flip it with a big fish on with light tackle...things get funky fast. And in those events when I was separated from the boat I can't imagine not having a pfd on. (Its not a matter of being a good swimmer...flip it in a big chop and you know what I mean.
