In another thread you asked how the fishing is at the canal. Not good. But, there is mackeral in the east end and I find it hard to believe there's not a couple of LARGE with them with the water temps as they are. So, I'll be out in the rain this weekend - just can't let go.

Jim, will you be bringing all your green colored plugs?

Its not just green plugs. Its the mackeral pattern paint job. Same pattern comes in pink , purple and yellow. All to imitate mackeral under different conditions of light and water clarity.

Slip and SaltH - yep, bringing the green. Every green thing I got - tops, metals, 4 leaf clovers , green rabbit's foot, you name it.

John R: Nope. Didn't see anything really large this year other than the occasional mola-mola and the one resident seal at the East end. That damn seal was there almost daily thru Oct.
BTW, I expect to see some portugese mack fishermen down there this weekend. The home-made wine they carry with them will keep you warm and grow hair on your plugs - They're usually very generous guys and ask you if you'd like a slug. Yikes.

Grow hair on your plugs, or somewhere else...lol. I usually see most of my seals early in the spring around the ledges in the Cohasset area. This year there were an unusually large numbers around and they didn't disappear until the summer was well underway. Maybe due to the cold spring/summer, don't know. If I pulled up on a ledge with seals, I'd watch them for a few minutes, but wouldn't even waste time wetting a line.

You guys are some serious diehards, if your headed out in this crap to fish. You better hope you do run into those wine toting Portegeuse, lol.

It wasn't so bad out there tonight. I gave up early , lost a jig, caught nothing but weed.Only one other nut fishing the east end. With the news of the plymouth power plant closing I think I'll call it quits this year. Time to prepare for spring.
