View Full Version : Start To Finish ( A boys view on fish)
tynan19 04-20-2009, 09:20 PM I mostly release my fish, both fresh and salt for many reasons. I try to teach my kids to conserve our resources as well. Well today Tynan, my 6 yr old, decided he wants to be a meat fisherman. He yelled at me for releasing his first fish. " Why do we always have to release the fish." He wanted to take it home. I asked why and he said he wants to eat it. So the next fish was a Brown and I kind of wanted to let it go since they tend to holdover better for next year but Tynan had other plans. He wanted meat and wouldn't take no for an answer. So I made a deal with him that if he wants fish he needs to do the work.
tynan19 04-20-2009, 09:23 PM Of course little bro wanted in as well. Notice the shiner in Conner's right hand as he is reeling. He wouldn't put that fish down for nothing.
tynan19 04-20-2009, 09:25 PM I don't get Conner's fasination with shiners or Tynan wanting to wear the ski goggles when he fishing. But it works they have a blast. :fishin:

Cool Beans 04-21-2009, 10:54 AM Awesome!!! Those are great pics. And it's good to let them enjoy eating them once in a while. Glad you let him "be a man" and clean his own fish! If he cleans enough fish, eventually he may wanna release more of them.
Conner reminds me of my little brother, I've got a picture around here somewhere of him, doing almost same thing with a tiny freshwater bass he caught in Kansas.
