Just me most of the time. I don't want to wait for anyone to get out of bed... Usually rowing out to the boat in the dark.

Occasionally I go solo, but almost always I bring at least one of my 3 kids along. Always more fun with the kids! I spend more time rigging their poles and untangling lines that I do catching fish, but have a lot of fun.

I would prefer to fish with 1 other person. Sometimes for safety and sometimes just to shoot the %$%$%$%$ before, during, and after fishing. I'm not talking about telling war stories while the fish are slamming. But it's good to hang out with someone who enjoys fishing. %$%$%$%$ always happens while fishing and I think it's more fun with someone else. Alone time is also needed but not that often.

use to be 90% alone >>>.... then my life & attitude changed & 1 other guy is a good time . But now / with my sea legs >> often staying home . I,m pretty much convined that I shouldn,t be out in the boat @ night alone .
even my kids /arn,t happy if I do . I do have some shore places that I will fish alone .
I REALLY miss the peace & senerity of night fishing in the boat alone >>>>>>>>> but as I,m well aware /another change in life :(

Alone, except when I'm not.
About the only place I don't fish alone is breachways, that is a different kind of fishing.

Wow what a bunch on loners round here! I'm in the same boat though. I usually fish my shore spots solo. If I'm in the skiff it's 50% solo and the rest with either my son or friends.

I see most fish alone .. Not suprised.. You gotta squeeze your own time in, nevermind fishing around someone eles schedule . Usaully bump into people on the beach anyway and make new friends .. "Hi ,,,, Any Luck ?"

Usually with one or two people, depending on who it is. I go for the laughs as much as the fishing. I'm probably 80% with/ 20% solo.

I'm about 60 with someone 40 alone. The 60 with someone are usually the same couple guys.

But, the bottom line is, a lot of the time I am chest deep in water at 3am on a Wednesday in fog so thick you can't see a foot in front of you after a 15 minute hike to a remote spot. If somebody else is there, God bless them.:walk:

I enjoy fishing on the boat with my dad because even if we're not catching much, we still have a lot of laughs. But like a lot of you, I do a lot of fishing from shore alone because of scheduling, etc... I often decide to go last minute and can't call friends at 10:00pm for a 2 or 3:00am wake up call.

usually with 1 or 2 buddies. it's always good to have people around to verify the stories. (or keep you honest) always laughs to be had.

plus i don't know why, but i still haven't been able to stay focused while alone at night. i get too creeped out. some spots more than others. on a rock i'm more or less fine. open shoreline. not so much.

Alone most of the time for me for similar reasons as stated above:
With a wife, it's not always easy to plan too far ahead so more often than not, I go out randomly at ungodly hours and none of my friends will even pick up the phone at 2 am to fish.
My buddies consider dead-sticking in the middle of a sunny day fishing. They call what I do: lunacy.
That being said, I sometimes meet up with some friends of mine that are serious fishermen and we do our thing. But it's hard to accomplish that due to conflicting schedules and prior arrangements.
As someone said before, it sometimes get scary/creepy/strange at night and knowing you're not alone out there helps ease the tension. Hopefully, this season I can find some more fishing partners.

I always head out alone, but I usually run into another regular at my spot(s). Sometimes by pre-arrangement, sometimes they just show up on their own.

I don't mind fishing with others who know what they're doing. In fact, I prefer fishing with 3-4 guys who know the drill instead of fishing alone, because a yo-yo generally won't try to move in on 4 guys casting in a line, but might on a guy fishing solo.

I'm not at the point---yet---when I worry about my personal safety on the Canal.
