Even Steven. I enjoy both and to catch on your own is the coup de grace

I'm about even I'd say, maybe leaning a little towards plug building as its a closer walk to my basement than it is to the water :)

I'd rather build plugs than icefish. But once it thaws out I'd rather fish.

I find it has only made my fishing more enjoyable and meaningful. I use only my own lures now 90% of the time, except for sluggo's and hogy's. It is so cool to take a twenty five pound fish on something I have created from start to finish. So to me it is just a extension of fishing that I can do for 12 mos.

Plug building is just a good way to think about fishing when you aren't fishing.

Each one lends itself to the other, each one brings both joy and releif as one long season ends and another begins.. when the winds blow and the Temp drops in October, I've had about enough bouncing arond the deck of a boat, freezing my fingers, crawling over barnicle encrusted rocks and slogging up and down the beach in waders, I cant wait to turn the first plug of the season... wnen April comes, that last batch of plugs seems like it takes forever to seal, prime and paint..I've got two dozen in primer and a dozen sinking needles in need of epoxy.. I just cant find the gumption the make it to the finish line...

Both are stress reliefs for me and get me out of the house.....how they can be stress reliefs I have no idea?
But, I'd have to give the edge to FISHING.

isn't so much in plug building vs fishing as it is in that quest of achieving the assembly of the most perfect arsenal.

I fish, Therefore I Build.....

Fishing is always 1st...plug building keeps me sane in the off-season

Equal for me.......I love the strike of a fish on a swimmer or a topwater smash and I love when I finish painting, clearing and wiring plugs I have had ideas about in my head for awhile (great feeling of satisfaction when they are complete and just the way I wanted them)....then the 2 passions just come together when hooking fish on them.........the ultimate feeling of satisfaction for all my hard work!:btu:

I used to fish a lot when I buy lures. Now I fish because I want to test out the lure designs I make and I don't fish any less. ;)

50/50: each has it's own facets, joys, rewards and headaches. since i only started this winter i am just beginning to fish some of my stuff. i doubt plugmaking will ever surpass fishing, because of my love of the outdoors and the sheer unknowing and surprises that come with rod and reel. on the other hand watching a piece of wood i turned wiggle and dance brings another element of satisfaction altogether. 50/50....
