I am having a problem with my A drive sence getting the system back from repair.
I can open discs from it but I can not copy or update anything .The screen comes up with disc is not formated.I buy all formated disc. and it does not mater if I am using an old disc which already has stuff on it or a blank new disc.

To get stuff saved have to save it to the C drive then go to the Network computer and copy to the other older computers A drive.

ya following me :wall: :wall:

Will it format discs?

Sounds like a setting in the BIOS that allows reads but not writes to the floppy. Get your user manual out and look up the BIOS screen options and see if it has a setting for read or read/write to floppy...

Either the cable is not connected (common when someone takes it apart) or it's disabled in BIOS

Another thing to keep in mind. Unlike laptops, desktops usually don't have anything to secure their internal cables. It's fairly common to have parts back off and have poor or no contact. Likely that the floppy cable is not seated in properly, on both sides. Good practice is to pull the case off and confirm everything is tight (stay away from the CPU unless you're familiar with those) after moving PC around a lot...

...make sure to rub your feet good - N - hard on some thick carpet before opening up that tower!!! :smash: :smash: :laughs: ....ok, I'm a punk @ heart!!...

..sounds about right, I'd check the BIOS setting first. I don't think the repair-man would've opened up his tower to rid him of the 'virus'...unless he planned on washing the Motherboard with alcohol to kill those germs. :D ..what da heck do I know!!
