I know you two are looking into a trolling motor, so I thought I would pass on my first test of the Minn Kota Ripetide. Man what a nice motor and based on about 4 hours of testing it today, this motor blows the Motor Guide away. I got the 36V, 101 lb thrust, with a 62 inch shaft. It's unbelievably quiet and smooth and puts my old Motor Guide Great White to shame in that department. The other thing I really liked about it, is the power seems to be applied gradually. With the Motor Guide if I hit the foot on/off switch with full throttle, it would damn near throw you out of the boat and that was only a 55# thrust. I tried that with the Minn Kota and it seems to build up gradually to full, definately a nice feature.

This motor is going to be sooooo sweet for my striper fishing, I only wish the season wasn't winding down so soon. Anyway, I thought you would like to know what I thought, since I've been using the Motor Guide for years. I wouldn't buy another one after today.

Got Stripers, thanks for the info on the trolling motor, that is the same one we are looking at, will be hookin it up this spring , just got the boat winterized, hate when that happens. Hope you get a few more chances to get out there before the weather gets too bad. I still want to go down and see if Plymouth PP is still closed, I sure hope not, would like to get out a couple more times before its too late.

My brother in law might be coming for the weekend, but if not, I'm thinking about a trip to the Power Plant if the weather cooperates. You guys are welcome to tag along if your interested. I'm anxious to see how the new boat handles in the big pond and wouldn't mind a few schoolies if any are left, or maybe some cod fishing. Weekend's looking coooooold, burrr. I'm thinking maybe an afternoon tomorrow, if I can clean up some work. Going to start cold, but should warm up to the mid 50's. Also according to the www.marineweather.com the winds are going around to the west tonight and sw tomorrow afternoon, which should flatten things out a bit.
