Raven 06-06-2009, 06:27 AM flounder occasionally go to the surface... they are brown  i caught one on a top water popper i made once i was real surprised..at the time water temps are changing... fish never seen this far north on both coasts are being reported more and more... RIROCKHOUND 06-06-2009, 07:10 AM Probably skate. I have seen them 'finning' the surface on calm days in Newport... Notaro 06-06-2009, 08:28 AM skates finning? well it looks like a regular fish to me. it looks pretty big enough. I'm not sure if it was a weakfish or not Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device Crafty Angler 06-06-2009, 09:24 AM Depending on where you saw it Joe it could possibly be blackfish (tautog), too exhibiting pre-spawn behavior - They do roll on the surface and do a little love boogie before bumping uglies - there's a couple of spots where you can see them rolling early in the morning and it's usually this time of year depending on water temps - I've seen it firsthand and a friend of mine is the retired principle marine biologist for RI - and he's confirmed it too in his research That's why they close the blackfish season for June - so they can honeymoon undisturbed...:hihi: Notaro 06-06-2009, 02:18 PM Depending on where you saw it Joe it could possibly be blackfish (tautog), too exhibiting pre-spawn behavior - They do roll on the surface and do a little love boogie before bumping uglies - there's a couple of spots where you can see them rolling early in the morning and it's usually this time of year depending on water temps - I've seen it firsthand and a friend of mine is the retired principle marine biologist for RI - and he's confirmed it too in his research That's why they close the blackfish season for June - so they can honeymoon undisturbed...:hihi: I don't want to disclose a spot, but PM me. Really/ Hmm, the spot has a lot of sands, seashells scattered, crustacean molten or discarded shells, and a few fish skeletons. Speaking of bumping uglies, I saw a couple of raccoons having the most, passionate, aggressive, roughest, and intense mating session. 0_o??? It was in Tiverton. shadow 06-06-2009, 04:15 PM one time I was fishing in the sound and saw a school of brown looking fish on the surface,I throw a chunk and got a tom cod. Could be, Joe - sand bars with cobbly rocks mixed in, mussels - Can't detail any more than that - I'd tell ya but you'd have to be liquidated - it'd be like Kill Joe, Vol. 1...:laughs: Notaro 06-10-2009, 03:11 PM Could be, Joe - sand bars with cobbly rocks mixed in, mussels - Can't detail any more than that - I'd tell ya but you'd have to be liquidated - it'd be like Kill Joe, Vol. 1...:laughs: :vamp: vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
