Joe 06-08-2009, 05:57 PM Sharks like Point Judith Light...this is the third one I can remember hanging around PJ. doktorfaustus77 06-08-2009, 06:05 PM One of my goals this year is to catch a brown shark from the beach redlite 06-08-2009, 07:53 PM Ummmm....they don't eat people do they??? I swim around out there alot....and I am scared shatless of sharks....I saw jaws and it scared the hell outta me..... JohnR 06-08-2009, 08:09 PM The shew and Redbull mix is shahhk repellant ... Rob Rockcrawler 06-08-2009, 08:27 PM I was wading out there the other night, im glad you didnt post this last week, nightfighter 06-08-2009, 08:40 PM The first year Luds and Clogton got into the wetsuit thing, they skished out to some nice rocks way out on SW corner of Cuttyhunk. At least that was where I saw them as it got dark. The next day Josh told me Luds hooked a fish, reeled it in, turned on his headlamp to see.. a 4 foot brown shark... Nice, huh? I can't imagine doing that. Just swam out to this spot, and have to swim back, where he just released a shark! Just another reason I don't wetsuit. TDF had a brown shark on another Cutty trip. But don't wetsuit either...... MVbluefish 06-09-2009, 07:06 AM I've talked to guys that target them on East Beach on Chappy but I hear there is a short window of opportunity. I have still not seen one never mind caught one. MakoMike 06-09-2009, 09:08 AM T%hey come into the bays to pup at this time of year and as soon as they let the pups go they vamoose. Cappucci 06-09-2009, 12:50 PM I saw a small one finning just off of Green Hill last Thursday around 7pm ish. FishWebb 06-09-2009, 05:31 PM I saw the brown shark that they caught from the beach in one of the OTW episodes.... in Falmouth! RoyL 06-10-2009, 05:41 PM I love them things, Best fight we get from the from the surf in our waters. They start to show up in June and hang around until oct, but mid summer is peak for them. From the data i've gotten over the last 20 years of targeting them and tagging, most of our big fish seem to be males it seems as most big females stay south in there spawning grounds. They do school up, so usually if theres one theres a couple. They have some good size chomppers and can give a nasty bite if you let them. They have been know to attack and if im correct they are #16 on the shark attack list, but honestly I bet they got there cause of feeding on people durring WWII like some other sharks. Not that they wouldnt bite someone who was swimming with a bass tied off to them by mistake lol. They are very powerfull and some of the bigger fish can peel off three, four hundred yards of line in no time. Nice bulldog strenght to them, but can be handled on most surf gear. Not sure if the law passed this Feburary which would protect them in all waters making it illegal to even target as a species, but I'll get back to you guys about that as soon as I know. These sharks have big fins and are tasty so there hunted greatly for shak fin soup. Last year was a tuff year and I only managed 8 fish in about 20 trips. vineyardblues 06-10-2009, 09:56 PM They also taste wicked good !
