BigFish 06-19-2009, 09:46 AM In honor of Father's Day I would like to give away this "Trout" colored "Prey" swimmer!! Here is the deal.....its not going to be as easy as "I'm In"! To qualify I would like you to post a picture be it with your Dad, your Son's or Daughter's, if for some reason maybe your Dad was not present and there was another "guiding force" in your life such as a GrandFather or an Uncle......lets have some fun with this thread in honor of all of the Dad's out there who may still be with us or who may have passed! Pics fishing is a plus but not necessary! Lets see your "Dad" pics! I will choose a winner Sunday evening!! Happy Father's Day guys!
BigFish 06-19-2009, 09:52 AM These pics were taken I think about 1968? I was about 5 or 6 and my Dad's company (Hood's Milk) was featuring him in their newsletter and they sent a photographer out to take some pics! I am quite lucky we were given the original 8 by 10 photos which I have and I cherish for obvious reasons!
Pic 1: We were a swimming family and my Dad was a great swimmer, won many awards in his day, is in the "L" Street Hall of Fame in Southie, gave much of his time to the Boys Clubs of Boston for many years when he was young! Also coached Men's swim teams at Tuft's University and Brandies! Here is a pic of my Dad strapping on my new swim fins!!
Pic 2: Watching my Dad make a shot on our old basement pool table!
Pic 3: Me with my Dad and my Mom! Who do you think was "Dad's shadow"?

The second picture is my son with his first fish. A nice Western Mass. brookie. The same river I caught my first trout as a young lad.

bloocrab 06-19-2009, 03:36 PM Here's my future fisherman. He absolutely LOVES the water as I'm sure you can tell by his expression.
Pictures were very limited while I was growing up, although my dad was my tutor from a very early age,,, he was not a fan of the camera. Not infront of it, nor behind it...
However, I plan on taking as many pictures as possible so that my son can look back years from now and have the photographs rejuvenate his memory.....
Thanks for the chance to win Bigfish....Thanks PERIOD! ;)

what's with all the trophy's in the back ground BF?
As I said my Dad won many swimming competitions in his day! We still have his awards/trophies and they number well over 50....some heavy duty hardware too! Swimming was always my Dad's thing but we have "the water" in common! He swam always, competitive diving, he was also a "Frogman" in the US Navy!

Here's the only picture I can find of my dad, my son and myself. My dad has been my fishing partner my whole life and I don't have any pictures of us fishing. I'll be sure to get the camera out with us this year for sure.
The second pic is from 1973 on West Island with my uncle, who I still fish with a lot. This is one of my favorites.
The last one is one I posted here a few weeks back of my son and myself from this year. We're looking forward to our annual Father's Day fishing trip on Sunday (weather permitting).

Cool Beans 06-20-2009, 12:02 PM Here's one of my Dad and my daughter bass fishing in Kansas last summer. We spent a month visiting him there as he has liver cancer and undergoing chemo for about 6 months prior to our visit. He's still on chemo (on again/off again) and probably will for as long as he lives.

You can't relive these moments in time.
Swimmer 06-21-2009, 07:37 AM Plug is a work of art Larry. Some very nice pictures here making it difficult to juge who should get the plug. Good luck everyone and happy fathers day.
MVbluefish 06-21-2009, 08:12 AM This doesn't qualify me for this giveaway I know but on this day I can't help but have a heavy heart remembering the man who first took me fishing. Although it wasn't for monster Bass on the cape, those days on the islands off Wollaston beach soaking sea worms slamming flounder were some of the best days of my life. Those experiences planted the seeds that make me the avid angler I am today. Dad I love you, I miss you, and you will always be #1 in my heart. Rest in peace pops.

tynan19 06-21-2009, 12:47 PM My passion for fishing was given to me by my grandfather when I was 4-5 years old. Unfortunatley he passed when I was 10 and I only have a few pics of the times we had. I can still remember them though. I also remember the smell of a fresh cleaned trout and the wet newspaper. My father does not fish and has little interest in it. I have been raising my kids to love the outdoors and not get too influenced by the video game craze. All of my friends on here are very supportive of the boys fishing and have been so generous to them in many ways. Thanks everyone! As I sit here my 6yr old is begging to go fishing right now. I told him the weather outside and all he says is, " so fishing is better in the rain" . :buds: So I plan on getting him geared up to stay dry and we will go start a fathers day tradition. First pic is my Grampa and Uncle and myself. Second pic is of me and the boys two falls ago in RI. 3rd is my youngest Conner at 2 years old with his first stringer.
tynan19 06-21-2009, 12:51 PM Some of my favorites from the past couple years. Conner all smiles. My son at 4 struggling to hold on to a blue while my wife is beaching her own. Tynan at 5 this past fall with a schoolie he landed.
tynan19 06-21-2009, 12:56 PM The picture of us on the beach won me a set of VS pliers 2 falls ago and can't forget the googles. Larry, great idea for an annual thread on Father's Day.
The Iceman 6 06-21-2009, 01:00 PM Great thread -
See front page for pic of my Dad. The man who taught me how to fish and play hockey. I thank him every day for giving me those two things. From tying my skates at 5:30 in the morning, to tying up leaders for me at sunset. Thankfully, now I can do both on my own.
