View Full Version : Father's Day Trout Pics
tynan19 06-21-2009, 10:09 PM I don't know how he does it but anytime Ty wears his glasses/goggles he catches fish. All day long he begged me to take him fishing. It was pretty nasty out and I told him it wasn't going to be nice on the river but all he kept saying is that the fish bite better in the rain. So after dinner my FIL, Tynan and I went out for dusk on a local river. Tynan kept saying he was going to get a big fish. My father in law actually hooked it but gave the rod to Ty right away. I didn't think he was going to land it as it was in the current right away and had some size. The brown was a couple years old and had a hook in its jaw that was grown over with skin. Great night to end a great day. Hope to make this a tradition over the years where the boys get together to fish.
tynan19 06-21-2009, 10:11 PM Caught some brookies and a rainbow as well. I like the distortion the water creates on the fish in the water.

I can't wait until I can get my boy out there.....Pictures like yours make it even harder...
One of my biggest fears is that he won't like to fish....:hang:
Btw, how do you pronounce his name? Tie-nan or Tee-nan?...just curious...I must have had a sheltered childhood, I've never heard of that name....I'm used to manny and joes. :hihi:
Thanks for sharing

tynan19 06-23-2009, 08:33 PM Wife and I have thought how fun it will be to fish with both kids in the ocean. We were at the canal on Sat and I thought how cool would it be to fish it with the boys after the cookout.
Bloo, it is pronounced Tie nan. Thanks
quick decision 06-23-2009, 08:46 PM good job
Dr.fish 06-24-2009, 09:37 AM Fishing with your kids just gets better and better and the excitement never fades. As they got older I just packed them up and off we went. Now dad gets reminded to make the reservations. We haven't missed a year in upstate NY since my oldest son turned 11...I figured that they were big enough not to be dragged in by a king salmon. They are now 33 and 27 and wouldn't miss it for the world. Of course dad added a new location a few years back...Wilderness Place Lodge in Lake Creek Alaska (wildernessplacelodge.com). My dad never made it to AK, a dream that he always talked about. My mom didn't want me to miss out so in 2005 she told me that I was going to AK "so make your plans". I researched for almost a year and found the above place and that was it. An 85-95 mile float plane fly-in from Anchorage into what really has to be God's country. There were days that you could not see the river bed it was solid salmon. A fish on every cast is not an exaduration. As luck would have it I've been INVITED to return this year and bring my boys at 2 for 1 for the silver, pink and chum runs. If there is a place that every fisherman should see it's AK...no not on a cruise. Get on the ground and look around you'll be amazed at what you see. For example, we stayed with a friend in Anchorage for a few days prior to our lodge trip and had a cow moose and a calf bedded down under my bedroom window. The bull would stand in the front yard just to make sure all was well. I had a great laugh with one of the signs in an Anchorage shop "Welcome, you've just entered the Alaskan Food Chain". The attached pics are just a sample of what you dads (and moms) have to look forward to with your young ones.
tynan19 06-24-2009, 12:49 PM Great pics Doc. I remember the thread on Sol. Thanks for sharing the story.
