I am pretty sure I have Bats living under a facer board, any suggestions on how to get them to leave?

scare them off , then put up metal screen to keep them away. Bats are good to have around , they probally eat a couple thousand mosquitos a night each , from your yard.

Id leave them , they wont attack anyone. Maybe swoop your head to remove the bugs flying around you .

Bats are good unless they carry rabies! They do leave a mess below where they live -> fecal matter.

Locally some fungus has been killing the bats. :(

People are scared of bats because they feel they will get tangled up in their hair! We use to fish at night up in VT and had the bats eating the mosquitos around us. We never had one run into us. They were so close you could feel the breeze from their wings as they flew past. Pretty cool!

Try using a water hose or a long thin stick to poke them out of the gap. Use a bright flash light and you can see them hiding. They can fit in a very narrow gap - 1/2" or so. Staple screen over area like Cheferson said, or put up some wood scrap or molding to cover up the opening. Better not to kill them IMHO - bats are our friends!

Bob they are easy to get rid of if they are simply under the facia boards. look for the bat %$%$%$%$ on the shingles or ground just below the nests. They unload as they drop out at dusk.

Take a few minutes at dusk and wait til they drop out of the nest. Make sure they are all out by counting them coming out. The next night after counting them out you can foam the spaces with Great Stuff minimal expanding foam insulation.

They also love the louver attic vents. Be sure there is screen behind them.

Good luck. They are a pain, only because people are afraid of them and they believe the wives tails about them attacking humans.

I got bats at my shop. Hundreds of them. They live in the fascia board right outside my doors. In the early morning they fly everywhere eating bugs. Yes it makes a mess of the loading dock but wow there's no skeeters here. Pretty cool to see them swoop in out of the darkness right up to the door and then up in the board. Makes a way cool noise to hear them flutter around. They unload their stuff all day because I have to watch out on the dock or else I get the stuff on me. Every one of them little turds is about 2000 bugs.

Build and set up a "bat house" for them somewhere else where they can still perform their bug eating duties and then evict them from your property. This way they will have someplace readily available that they can move to.
Between bats and birds, I think they both do a great job on the sketter population, provided they have someplace closeby to roost.

We encourage most wildlife in our small back yard, and over the years we have enjoyed some moderately bug-free seasons due to the bugs and bats doing their thing.

I know there up there due to the side of the wall and the droppings on the steps I will build some bat houses and hang them in the woods behind my house, I also have them behind the shutters out front of the house.

If you're up to it, you could "relocate" them AFTER you have put up the bat house(s). If you do it during the day, they will ususally climb into the bat house with no problem.
The problem for you will be handling them from the fascia board to the bat house. Leather gloves would be sufficent, but I would be careful regarding any bat parisites (ticks, fleas or mites) that can be transmitted to you in the process.

You could also check with the local humane society for additional help.

Big swarm here today. Alot of bugs out right now.

It is incredibly hard to take a picture of a bat at night. This is literally a swarm of bats but they move so fast ya can't gettum. The last pic is where they live, this is the face of the building looking up. 3/4 space.

I know a few people who have bat houses , they live in the woods and need the bats to cut down on the mosquito's !

Back in the day when I painted houses, I have never been so close to falling off the ladder as when removing a shutter and a bat flew out from behind it. Darn thing scared the sh!t out of me.
Otherwise I like them. As everyone said they eat logs of skeeters and really have no reason to bother a human.

I second the bat house idea...bats are cool.

I once tried an gave up! I remember while at my camp in Maine shooting a 22 at them and they actually chased the slug as it went by.

With the warm weather bats are now out of hibernation, saw my first ones of the season tonight.

My college roommate and I used to let 2 bats fly loose around the dorm room, they will not hurt or attack you! That is one for the Mythbusters: BUSTED!

As mentioned above the worst thing about bats in the belfry (or house) is the ammonia smell from the lbs/lbs of guano a colony can produce.

I have a bat house on the front of my house. Send them to me---they're more than welcome.

I'd also like a flock of guinea hens to chow on the bumper crop of ticks we have.

About the only time that a bat might attack you is if it's rabid--if you do get bitten or scratched by a bat, the safe play would be to get the shots.

I heard bats two days ago at the shop and 4-5 days ago I heard funny noises. These bats could not have left I believe they stayed for the winter.

We have a couple that patrol my yard but i don't know where they live. I wish we had some more though because we still have plenty of skeeters.

Its become an industry in south Texas.Roosting in overpasses,railroad bridges etc. is encouraged and new construction is built to make roosting easier and collection of the guano easier.

Free mosquito control and free fertilizer.How can you beat that.
