My motors seemed to be idling high then slamming into reverse when I pull out of the slip. The right engine was slamming intoforward yesterday. Anyone got an idea?

The right engine was slamming intoforward yesterday. Anyone got an idea? Fisrt thing is why are they idling high? If you shift at a high idle, I would expect the LU to slam. Does the idle drop after the power is heated up? Does it slam if the idle is normal? What engine? Duke41 07-06-2009, 08:28 AM 98 Merc 200 outboards. slam when going into reverse and forward.
