I went tuna fishing last week and they were everywhere. I got skunked pulling the squidrigs. It seemed as though everyone catching was fishing live bait. Since there really arent many bluefish or pogies left in the bay, what would an eligible bait for the stellwagon bluefins be? I have done the sabiki thing trying to catch mackerel but all i got were dog fish
mackerel are pretty much a spring and fall thing in this neck of the woods. try jigging up some sea herring. pogs are around but you have to work for them, it ain't like last year. harbor pollock are worth a shot though i have personally never used them. squid bars do work. you can always buy some ballyhoo and troll them around. we took some fish on them last year

Jigging for sea herring sounds like it could work. How do you catch them, just a sabiki??
same sabiki you'd use for macs

Live macks have been like ringing the dinner bell! The last couple weekends it took a long time to get even a dozen macks, but the payoff was worth it....
