Looks like boaters are part of Mitt Romneys plan to balance the Massachusetts deficit.
Here's a quote from this mornings Globe:
"He will also raise $2 million immediately by increasing fees under his control, including higher charges for boaters and golfers who use state recreational facilities."

I imagine the states launch ramp fee's will at least double. The beach off of Morrisey Blvd is looking more and more attractive, anyone know of other 'natural ramps' in the state?

I do want to hit Rhody at some point, but time is scarce and green harbor is only 20 minutes from home, then it's < 10 minutes to the fishing grounds.

The ramp at the gas tank in dorcester is not state owned and is free.
If you know the beach at Morrisey, you should know that ramp.

However,
It is not well maintained,
it sux at low tide though, and there is no dock.

When i used it i always brought hip waders..

Mr Macey, I think Plymouth is going to have the docks at the ramp this year.
Van, is it behind expressway toyota? I wonder if my truck/trailer would still there when I get back.

After reading/listening to more about the cuts, I think its just the registration fees that are go up. The ramps (at least marshfield/plymouth) are run by the town, but I imagine towns will take the states lead and jack those prices up.

Van I think the ramp at the Gas Tanks is closed after 9/11

Fishsmith:

The ramp is down the road from the small underpass.
If you take the freeport St. exit from the expressway northbound, you just go right between the tank and the yacht club.

If from morrisey the underpass is between the dodge and toyota dealerships.

Since 9-11 there has been a guard at the road, I think he just checks to see why you are heading that way (probably because it is close to the gas tank.)---BOOM !!!

RockL says it might be closed, I don't know but it sure is possible in light of the current security measures.

I used to launch there for years and never had a problem.
But my ramp of choice is Weymouth.

There is also a ramp at Anchor marina in Quincy behind sportsman's den. But I know for a fact that it is real tight there, only 1/2 the ramp was open last season, and there is almost NO parking. Early season is worse cause of all the boats in the yard.

It used to cost 10 bucks to launch.

I launch in Scituate, although the crouds last year were getting out of hand. Plymouth has a great ramp, which without any floats is just nuts, especially if your by yourself. Green Harbor is nice but I don't know if they start limiting it to locals or if it's a fee to launch, seems to be plenty of parking there and it's a nice short run outside. Hingham aint bad since they dredged it, used to be bad at low tide, you couldn't launch or pull out for about an hour. I'm going towards the cape and RI more this year. John maybe we can get a list of ramps, conditions, limitations, fees etc, be a nice piece of data for all us lazy boaters to have:).

This may help.

I've got a map with all public launch sites in NH. If I can find it and there is any useful info or a URL, I'll post it later.

If anyone is interested, I found the NH launch info. They don't list the spots on their website but they do tell you how to get the map on page 65 of this link.

Since most of you guys seem to be on the other side of Mass, I figured you would find this more uesful.
