Lately at Panama Sportfishing Lodge, the occasional rainfall didn’t stop Juan Manuel from tiring his arms out on yellowfin tuna, taking in one day 3 YFTs all over 200 lbs!! The last fish taken was weighed in at 230lbs at the dock. The other fish had to be cleaned at sea since there wasn’t enough room for them all in the boat!!!

Hannibal banks and Isla Montuosa producing YFTs liked crazy. Whether it be Popping Jigging or natural bait, anything you can throw at them. They were hitting the wood before it hit the water 

In addition to tuna, there were other species caught as well including cuberas, mutton snappers, amberjacks and mahi.

There were a lot more tuna pictures that had to be scrapped due to the rain. What a tough problem to have! Not bad for the offseason…

The lodge is Panama Sportfishing Lodge. www.panamasportfishinglodge.com. its located in boca chica, which is like 6 hours north of panama city or so. its the area where most of the lodges you see are located.

We went back in April and it was pretty awesome. We weren't much for trolling but trolled a couple hours a day. Got marlin up to 700lbs, tuna to 225, cuberas, grouper, snapper, etc. really fun trip. had we wanted to troll more we'd have gotten more big tuna and marlin - but we were all wanting to jig and pop :)

the closest thing to a skunk we had in april was one day our boat went to las drones and couldnt get a bite. we got one eel and one bonito on jigs (did not fish bait). then on the way in we decided to stop off for some bottom fishing on the way in. ended up getting some yellowtail snapper, gag and leopard grouper. probably ended up with 12 keeper (delicious) fish. the credit goes to the capt, he stayed an extra 2 hours that day just so we got fish.

Got to fish Isla Montusa in Feb of 2007, had a great time! If you can swing it ($$$) it is worth the trip
