Exactly my thoughts Karl. Notice that there was no mention of the reason for high bacteria? Maybe the leach field at the field station is backing up? Not!! Seal Poo Yes!:yak5:

could be due in part to seal poo but not necessarily. This season has been full of wet weather and the runoff alone could be to blame. Just check the news and its everywhere. Inland lakes/ponds too. Bird flies by and poops and you got coliform my friends......

No one knows if it's seal poo...but it is the single most likely source given the very high population of seals on/around high head. Chatham, which has to deal with all the seals at Monomoy have closed many times due to seal excrement. However, I can understand park officials not wanting to state a cause until they have good evidence.

People are so afraid of their home planet it amazes me. My siblings and I used to swim in the gurry stream at ColdStorage beach( along with everyone else) The fish scales would stick to our skin( look Mom, we're shiny!!) Mom would tell us to get the hell out of that , pronto. We seem to have grown up all right..

I wish they would use that same philosophy of having good evidence when closing the beaches for plovers. Maybe some evidence of the closures bringing any improvement to the population over the last 10 years??

They should set up a tent in the dunes for the seals to use
