Maybe the leach field at the field station is backing up? Not!! Just check the news and its everywhere. Inland lakes/ponds too. Bird flies by and poops and you got coliform my friends...... Chatham, which has to deal with all the seals at Monomoy have closed many times due to seal excrement. My siblings and I used to swim in the gurry stream at ColdStorage beach( along with everyone else) The fish scales would stick to our skin( look Mom, we're shiny!!) Mom would tell us to get the hell out of that , pronto. We seem to have grown up all right.. I wish they would use that same philosophy of having good evidence when closing the beaches for plovers.
