I was living in Maryland near Annapolis at the time. We had snow but itwasn't anything like what happened up here. I remember the pics from my uncle and grandparents when we visited later...

The twins were born in Oct. of 1978. If you do the math you know where I was and what I was doing.:D :D :D :D stayed home from work for over a week. I was running Woolworth stores at the time and could not get back to the Hanover Mall unit till the following Wed.

I had just moved back in with my folks in Scituate Mass, after some traveling. Bad timing, man didn't we get it, both in terms of snow and coastal devistation. Our street didn't get plowed for a week and I remember we'd hike to the harbor and coastal areas after it was over, just to snap some photos and basically look in disbelieve what mother nature had done. Something about walking by a 40 foot fishing boat on it's side on main street or looking at houses sitting on top of cars, to make you thank your lucky stars your parents didn't by coastal property.

The other thing that drove me nuts was I was a ski freak and this was after about a 4 year stretch of teaching skiing out at Bershire East in western mass, looking at snow we'd have died for and I couldn't even get out of my own driveway. I remember even trying to sneak out to get to western mass after they finally had started to move some snow around, but before they lifted the driving ban. After being stopped by serveral cops working my way out Rt123 trying to work the secondary roads around, I figured I'd best get back home. Finally get to western mass and yup nada, they got nothing and the conditions were hard and icy.

They had a report on today about someone who put out a book on the storm and I recognized countless pictures, because I took the same shots. It was kinda cool for a while, an adventure in cooking to say the least, but the fun ran out real fast when your trapped with a bunch of boarded family members. Only so many board games you can play.

...took part in the making of our families biggest snowman. Then dug a hole out and roasted marshmellows in his lower abdomen.....Dove off my porches handrail, right into the Bliss...:( Ah, the good ol' days.......NO WORRIES, except if there were going to be any Oreos left that night :D

Peeking out the window in anticipation of helping my dad snowblow a path to the road that hadn't been plowed. Great snowfort year. Spent the rest of February cutting firewood in almost 4' of snow in the woods.

I was working the graveyard shift at a gas station while in college.

I worked like a dog for 15-18 hours straight that night and next day filling plows.

When someone finally came to relieve me, there was no way I could get home. (10 miles).

I hitched a ride with a guy with 4 WD. He could only get me within about 2 blocks of my parents house. Their house was only about 100 yards from the coast (quincy bay). That 1-2 block took me about 1/2 hour literally crawling over 8 foot drifts and falling down buried in snow. The wind was incredible,, driving snow into my face all the way.

Good thing I was young then !!!!!!!

I was near total exhaustion when I finally made it to the house.
I think I slept for 15 hours after that.

Had the rest of the week off from both work and school though.

HA! Honest to God...

Stuck at the bottom of a hill, shaped like a bowl, at the edge of the woods in my neighbor's yard. Those dang plastic sleds are no good fer' diggin' into ice when you have to climb your way back up!

In high school. I remember that my sisters had a few friends over for a sleepover party. I got skunked, but not from lack of effort.

I also remember having to jump out a second floor window so I could shovel out the front door.

I was 18, like Mr. Macey, although I don't remember as vivid as he. seems I was "snowbound" at a friends house, where we always would hang out + party. We consumed much alchohol + ?? :smash: during those four days.
