I think JohnR mentioned this in another thread that a scenario like this on the cape would make people stop defending these damn things real quick!

We need to blast this across a wide array of social media Web sites so all the animal loving tree huggers read it and start to think differently about these beasts and we can start getting rid of these things exploding in our local waters from CT/LI, NY, up through to Maine.

ummm..... if you let your small child feed any wildlife of that size you are asking for trouble. :smash:

It's even more basic than that: If you FEED any wild animal, it will begin to make a connection between humans and food, period.
Once that happens, the animal will soon lose its fear of humans, and will begin to approach people aggressively, EXPECTING to be fed.

It goes the same for small backyard birds and squirrels up to seals and bears. The same tree-hugging morons that think seals are "cute" are probably the idiots that have been feeding the geese with their kids, and then have the gall to complain when their pond is closed due to bacterial pollution!

Screw with the natural order of things, and be prepared to pay the price in the end.

How long will it be before the seals on the cape start chasing the people away?

I heard that a long time nauset guy was quahogging in nauset marsh and had to defend himself with a quahog rake from a large bull seal that was lunging at him.

Feed any wild animal, and if they are still hungry they will go right up your arm to your head. Seals are predators, I'd feed them right after I fed fisher cats.......

Rule of thumb for wild animals from my daughter who is been animal worker in zoos and has a animal science degree.....is........

A fed animal is a dead animal.

Something will happen and some will be destroyed....
Happens in national parks all the time...

The seals have already made the connection... as they follow the fisherman up and down the Race.

The regulations apply to people who initiate feeding, touching or swimming with a marine mammal.

how about pissing on them..... should be fine :)

..."one similar incident: a B.C. sport fisherman was bitten by a harbour seal as he tried to release a juvenile salmon into the water"...

Perhaps one should not practice catch & release on the race anymore, .......that's IF you can actually get your fish back to the sand. :smash:

So if you thought like a warped seal hating greenie, you'd be feeding seals by hand all the time and hoping they'd attack some kiddies so more people would be brought to your cause......
