View Full Version : HODGMAN blowout shore manic 02-04-2003, 09:31 AM neoprene waders/ stocking and boot,w suspenders and belt, triple reinforced stress points. at bldg19 hingham & pembroke $15 get em for backups! hooked 02-04-2003, 11:56 AM They've got them in Nashua NH too. There were tags on them that told you where the leaks were. For $15, I got myself an extra pair of breathables to use as jetty waders. shore manic 02-04-2003, 03:58 PM didn't know about leaks, friend works there and told me about the sale, hadn;t been there myself am going tommorrow to check em out.good idea on the jetties bloocrab 02-04-2003, 05:06 PM ...be careful when buying "leaky" waders......I thought I wouldn't mind fixing the leaks and found out ... it's almost impossible, for me anyways......I've used different types of "glues/sealers" and the leak always returns. I've even gone far and beyond the area of leakage....and still my b**** get soaked. Not a comfortable feeling at 8am when walking back from Naps. :smash: I thought it was a "steal" also.....but since then, changed my mind. ..don't forget fellas..were talking about being comfortable while enjoying our favorite pass-time ;) ... just my .17 cents - BEETLE 02-04-2003, 09:10 PM same here as Bloo - wet cold weekend down the cape with blg. 19 waders. fill em up when you get home + check em good, i had some that were just beyond repair, they were good about taking back or exchange though. thewaterfordstriper 02-04-2003, 09:24 PM i will never buy another pair of hodgman waders again. i have had more problems with leaky waders. 4-6 months and bam spring a leak. usually in the seams. always very comfortable. shore manic 02-04-2003, 11:33 PM BLOWOUT SALE!!!! maybe they could set up a pool in sporting goods so we can test em bloocrab 02-05-2003, 05:43 AM ..testing in "pools" isn't enough. You must equal the pressure applied by the ocean water as your standing in 4-5 feet of water. 10 inches of "pool" water...does next to nothing.....unless the hole is Large enough, but then you'd be able to see it...right?? The leaks I had were slow, but the deeper I went in (added water pressure)....the faster/stronger the leak. . . . Spend the Coin.........and you'll keep a dry groin or.... Save some cash.......End up with a Rash...:D ...hey, so I'm not a poet! alr 02-05-2003, 07:49 AM We use waders on a regular basis, work & fishing, and have found that the only way to go is to buy as high end as possible w/ a good warranty. Cheap waders simply do not hold up. Besides, when it comes to sport it's for fun. Who wants to spend a night in leaky, wet waders just to save a few bucks? shore manic 02-05-2003, 08:59 AM BLOO, i was joking about the pool. jeesh, (WE DON"T NEED NO STINKY LEAKING WADERS) as my name is shore manic some people have suggested i change it to shore(maniac) huh steve in mass.spend the coin.....you'll keep a dry groin that's not too bad bloo.. it could work! i'm kinda bored so i have nothing better to do than go to bldg19 and sift thru a pile of leaky waders. as hooked said earlier $15 breathables for the jettie. i am going to get a good pair of breathable stocking and a good pair of wading boots for the surf. Jenn 02-05-2003, 12:35 PM uh...the whole POINT of waders is to keep you dry right??? I say deal or not....why would you put yourself through that!!????? JohnR 02-05-2003, 12:52 PM I got a pair many years ago - same deal. Did not leak for a couple years. Wasn't bad for $20... Sad thing is the mid range waders I had bought in more recent years have not held up all that well either. Drop $25 at Building 19? Drop $100 at Red Top or Bass Pro? Or $300 @ Bean or Orvis? Tough call - each has its points.... Or spend $80 on breathables and be sa happy wading as ever! :D mrmacey 02-05-2003, 01:03 PM from building 19 got a pair of hip boots 10.00 now if they dont leak ill be happy theyll last for years only need them to put boat in and out in cold water!!! they had all kinds, said more comin friday new bedford store!!! the ones i got said compare 59.99 hodgeman sounds like one of those to good to be true deals!! we'll see!! these are real hodgemans!! Striper SniperX 02-05-2003, 01:09 PM Ahhh, Mine don't leak- but there the REAL hodgmans ($89) :D BUT is there any Bldng 19s in my area (Cranston,RI) ?? I may go take a look @ what they got for the heck of it. They got fishin' stuff to? I know i been there and bought line before but i don't remember if they have lures and stuff  Even if the Lures hooks fall off while casting, it's a good deal :D Mike Big Vern 02-05-2003, 01:16 PM I happened upon this thread yesterday, and then came across a Building 19 in my travels last night. I decided to pull up, and check out what kind of waders I'd be looking at for fifteen bones. After digging through the pile I pulled out a few pairs of breathables that looked MUCH better than the others. Looked pretty darn good for fifteen bucks, and I grabbed a pair of the stocking foot breathables for myself. I don't see these being my primary waders, but I see them as backups or waders for when I'm on the rocks just getting splashed. This way I figure I can get some better mileage out of my good wders. In fact, at fifteen bucks I even threw in a pair for the wife considering that she fishes enough to use waders, but not enough to warrant spending $100 on a good pair. All in all, seemed like a good deal to me. mrmacey 02-05-2003, 01:21 PM i seen those ones with the sock feet i didnt get that kind figuring i needed boots to go over them but is that how you wear them just with neoprene feet i like you thought it was excellent deal plus you can bring them back within 30 days bloocrab 02-07-2003, 08:28 PM #1 Use for Leaky waders :D ......SNOW REMOVAL!!! .....just got back in from helping my father out. He has a part-time job as the grounds-keeper for the local church. It worked out sweeeet!!!... ..Didn't Leak!! ...Stayed warm.....:) ....and walking thru the snow....almost felt like walking in sand :D he laughed at me at first.....then said; "hey, thats not a bad idea!"....;) ....Only negative part about it...Looking at myself in waders and knowing I WASN'T going fishing :af: :af: Bill L 02-07-2003, 11:22 PM I fished a pair of Hodgman canvas waders from Bldg 19 in Warwick ($20) for several years without a single leak. They had a pile of all kinds--the defect on the pair I had was with the suspenders, maybe I lucked out. Got a new pair of neoprenes this fall and already got a leak :smash: I thought they went out of business when the closed in Warwick. For 15$, it may be worth a shot, but Bloo's right, nothing's worse then leaky ones Striper SniperX 02-08-2003, 01:16 PM there opening a Bldng 19 in my area soon, i don't know when. (it's the old Ames, near the malls) you think they will have them in there still- i may go look when they open, maybe they will be $10 :D Bloo- i got ANOTHER usage for cheap waders: Ebay! :smash: worth a shot ;) mrmacey 02-08-2003, 01:53 PM e-bay they would catch on to you real quick, first leaky pair they'd have your ass!!! money dont come easy s/s it has to be earned to be appreciated!!! why dont you start thinkin school, computers or something who knows maybe you could work with john!!!:D Striper SniperX 02-08-2003, 02:09 PM it was a JOKE ;) MrMacey: i know enough about computers to get around, i'm on them all day and been on them for about 5 years--- i know what i need to know, trust me :D :D :D Work w/ John??? Explain.... :D MrMacey, don't say the SCHOOL word on a saturday- what wrong w/ you :smash: (kidding) i got my summer q-hog permit that's a nice summer job, got my boat ready to werk. shore manic 02-09-2003, 12:03 AM computers or something who knows maybe you could work for john mr macey, you could be in for ascolding !! :laughs: Striper SniperX 02-09-2003, 12:09 AM Nah Shoremanic- i wouldn't want to werk fer john, he seems like he could be a evil boss *(just kidding john)* No but seriously i don't need comments on what i should and shouldn't be doing with careers i appreciate the 'concern'. i have more then enough know-how of computerz that could get me so far but i just don't wanna :D it's to boring :eek5: I'm a fisherman- and that's what i wanna do... :smash: BUT! if you do wanna give me comments and tips Visit my new site: Http://saltwater-fishing.8k.com and let me know what you think of it!!! sign my guest book, post in my forum and let me know please... Sorry for the off-topic- I have a pair of the $90 hodgmans so i guess im ok for now- but would like a pair of breathables even if they do leak :D Mike Swimmer 02-09-2003, 01:17 PM Back in the late seventies I happened to be in the old army/navy store on Commercial Street in P-Town. They had a huge box with all those old type of heavy rubber waders. Us older guys remember them. I was to embarassed to climb in to look for a pair that wasn't ripped, so my wife did. It was pretty funny seeing my five foot honey in this big box. Well, don't you know she found a pair way down the bottom that did't leak that lasted for five years. They cost seven bucks. It had a huge pocket inside the chest area. When I used them clamming and my bucket was filled I could always fill up that bib if the warden wasn't looking.
