OK so I got this replacement for an attick staiwell. The kind that drops down from the ceilling like an accordian.
How do you get the existing one down?
How do you get the new one up? Without killing myself or having to have twenty guys to help.
Thanks

Make a dead man and support it

for the old one it can come out in pieces, just cut it up with a sawz-all

A "Dead Man" is a support of some kind fashioned out of wood usually. Sheetrockers sometimes make them out of 2 X 4's to help support the rock when they apply it to the ceiling.

How to Install Attic Stairs | Video | Stairs | This Old House (http://www.thisoldhouse.com/toh/video/0,,20047183,00.html)

Hope this helps... for removal, pull the trim to expose the frame, install cleats and do the reverse of what you will see in the video.
