They played at Roger Waters wedding, I have heard him say they play Floyd songs better than we did.

and is their light show just as good....too?

how is this not ripping off the original group....

i'm not disapointed mind you!
just puzzled about rights
infringement and all that.

Thought I replied to this - oh well...

Saw their bit on PBS, pretty good. Water's wedding or Gilmour's birthday?

Might think about seeing. This is a distant fourth between seeing the real band, Gilmour, or Waters but sheit, some Floyd is better than no Floyd, right?

Light show / stage is very reminiscent of DSOT/Pulse tours.

As for rights infringement I'm sure the original Floyd gets a cut of everything sold such as DVDs / CDs much as you would if you covered someone's tune and recorded it. As for a concert, that's open. Does Jimmy get a cut when someone plays Watchtower live? Nope.

The PBS shows - there are two with APF - were excellent

From what I understand, the tribute band is endorsed by the survivng members and the shows are done with their blessing

My Understanding is that the Tour Gear (i.e. Lights, Video Screen, Pig) actually is the gear that Pink Floyd used.....which is why they look, at least stage presence wise....like the real pink floyd.

But just not the same.

Saw, I seem to recall, Floyd twice at Foxborrow in late 80's.

First time the pig got stuck over the crowd, deflated, and hung down so low the crownd grabbed it and yanked it up and down. To get it back up the wire the rigging crew sent, I don't think I hallucinated it, a man down wire hand over hand to attach a cable that they then winched both pig and man back to safety.

I think. :buds:

I think you're right. Delicate Sound tour, was there but was across the field. I remember it looking like something funny going on with the Pig on the south side of the stadium

I look at it as more of a tribute than a ripoff.Let's face it,Floyd is done so if you want to see a good show go check them out.A couple years ago I saw the Hendrix tribute show which was a compilation of kick ass guitarists doing Jimi tunes.Kenny Wayne Sheppard blew me away that night.

Ripoff? Nah

Gave it a listen.
Not bad, but there's only 1 Pink Floyd in my opinion !

Well of course there is only one......But this is a pretty good tribute band.

and if Pink Floyd ever got back together, how much do you think a ticket will cost.....a lot more than the $40-50 you'd spend to see Australian Pink Floyd I would bet.

For a tribute band, they're interesting. Not sure if I would go to see them but if I'm going to see a tribute of anything its probably these guys.

...or maybe some Elvis impersonators for the novelty factor.

It's no Pink Floyd, but some may be better than none. Until then there is fantastic stuff on Youtube and DVD

The show was great, they did a nice mix of classics.Started with some wish you were here and then went into animals with dogs and pigs.Highlight for me was set the controls for the heart of the sun.Closed with run like hell, great tune but they closed with that two years ago..Not the real Floyd but I think they're done for good.

Cool :btu: .

One of these days (no pun) I'll go see them. Hoping for one more US tour of Roger or David
