for me.
It's been one heck of a 24 hour period for me. Not fish wise, although I did manage a couple fish, it was several other things that happened.
First, I was fishing a udl with a friend from upstate NY whom I had met earlier this spring thru another bunch of NY/PA/RI guys I fish with each spring when I snapped off my weeks lucky needle due to a braid malfunction. He came along as I was re threading the rod and tying up a new leader. I told him what happened and how the plug lost was irreplaceable due to it's mojo and I was depressed at the thought. Anyway, all restrung I went back into the surf, it was pitch black and blowing a bit and the plug that snapped off went quite aways on a running tide over a bar.
I mentioned to John that I was going to cast a sinking needle to where I thought the plug might be rolling along in the current. I made a cast into the dark some distance from where the lost plug landed and let the new plug sink. I felt it hit the bottom and then started to slowly drag the plug thru the sand. Three feet into the retrieve I felt a slight bump and knew something was hooked onto it. I reeled gingerly back thru the surf and current thinking it couldn't be, it must be weeds or something. I reeled in slowly and lifted the line from the water and there to my amazement was my snapped off needle hooked to my new needle! It had gone a good fifty yards from where I lost it earlier. I was thrilled and John could not beleive it.
Next, yesterday morning I finally went to the tire store for new rubber for my truck. Money is tight, what with college bills and expenses and all, as it is for most folks. Dreading the thought of replacing my tires at a projected cost of $600.00 +/-, I went up to the desk and told the salesman what I needed. He said "wait a minute, I think this might be your lucky day, we just took in four brand new tires off of a new vehicle a guy had bought but wanted a more aggressive tread. He said they are brand new, we sell the brand and they are really good tires, a 100% warranty no questions asked, want to take a look? I said yeah, so we checked them out and they were exactly what I was looking for so I asked "how much"? He said, "they sell for $160.00 a piece but they are considered used even though they had less than 200 miles on them. Let's see the manager and see what he wants to do. The manager says, "hmmm... and starts goofing with his calculator. "How about $61.00 dollars apiece, mounted balanced, front end alignment and free rotation and flat fix for life? I near dropped in a faint. $339.00 total. What a score!:rotf2:
Then yesterday in the mail I get a envelope from one of my daughters colleges, in it was a check for $6,000.00!!! I had overpaid her tuition bill for four years and didn't know it. :biglaugh:
Stiffy says I should play the lottery but I won that already back in 93" but that is another story.
Man, should I be worried?
