Well, Saturn was founded on a pretty stupid concept---that Americans would flock to buy fugly, underpowered cars at sticker price. :doh:

Yep but the only thing I can say in their defense is that they sold well, and they were pretty decent cars. It's not unheard of that people put hundreds of thousands of miles on them with little to no repairs.

Saturn was a way to bring Opel to the US without calling it Opel. It also gave GM a venue to experiment with plastic injection molded body panels. The abandoning of Saturn is probably related to the sale of Opel...
Don't be fooled the bailout money went to the loyal union supporters of the administration, did you notice that the unions got paid before the bond holders??
