was fishing last night and finally got into a decent fish...decent fight and initial run...beached the fish and when i went to unhook my plug from its lip, the bass went into an absolute coniption...i have never seen a bass go completely nuts like that after fighting the fish...i stood there and just waited a good minute before the fish calmed down...weird...

If a decent fish didn't give its all during the fight in, it may have saved its energy in a "last ditch effort" to get free. I've had fish do that a number of times this year already.
It definitely keeps you on your toes, when you think you've "played out" the fish and they EXPLODE into a whirling dervish of piscatorial prowess. (Like those $0.25 words?)

At least you didn't have one trebble deep in your hand and one still in the fish while it was going nuts... (on a boat by yourself beyond the eez):fury: Like I did one time...

larry the fish was about 15lbs maybe...it was almost comical how this fish suddenly went into spastic mode...

'EXPLODE into a whirling dervish of piscatorial prowess'....that is well said!!!
