Not sure this belongs here,
But need to replace a printer for my kids.
Had a Lexmark that just quit a few weeks ago.
Don't need anything too high end, used mostly for kids homework.
Probably only factor for me is ink cartridges cost as the kids go through a good amount.
Any suggestions on one to buy ???

If you print a lot, the Kodak is the cheapest...

Here is an HP cheap from Newegg: Newegg.com - HP Officejet Pro 8000 C9297A Up to 35 ppm 4800 x 1200 dpi Wireless InkJet Workgroup Color Printer - Printer - Inkjet Printers (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16828115420&nm_mc=AFC-SlickDeals&cm_mmc=AFC-SlickDeals-_-NA-_-NA-_-NA)

Some HP printers (not that one in the link) may also have a $50 rebate when you trade in an old one: HP Trade-In And Save Rebates TradeUps (http://tradeandsaverebates.tradeups.com/Customers/54/GetQuote.aspx)

I always think the HP cartridges suck though. thats's why I went the canon individual cartridges

Personally..I think cartridges as a whole suck....I'd prefer a laser printer

they don't do that. But school these days, all reports must be typed. It's like an expectation

If you don't print a lot, careful about HP printers. Many of their cartridges have electronic expiration dates on them and can stop working even if they are half full.

I have also had 4 HP printers (all different models purchased years apart) that have give the dreaded "pink printing" issue.

The quality of the printers is great, along with the speed, but my confidence in their holding that quality over a long period has seriously faded.
