Has there ever been a definitive review of all the stuff that is out there? There are more paint brands now then I have time to explore!

What is the best ablative paint for our region? Has anyone tried the Sea Hawk Brand? I have used Micron CSC and Peditt paints and they worked OK but I was wondering if there was something better.

I have been using ePaint for the last 3 years. So far no barnacles. It is non-toxic and made in Falmouth Mass. www.epaint.net

So that said, I use Interlux ACT, cheaper than most and works just fine (for me). Just hauled the other day and only had some slime. No growth.

Check Jamestown distributors online for great paint prices. Beat Worst Marine by 40%.

Just hauled yesterday. Second season with the Micron CRC and it looked very good. (Aside from the crap on the gelcoat above the 'waterline'...) Powerwashed it and done. Required no touch ups this past spring, and will only need a few touch ups for the coming year as I am seeing a few spots where the tell coat is starting to show. I had totally stripped the bottom and done a complete epoxy/ablative application two years ago

I did the same a few years ago and used micon csc over a fresh epoxy barrier coat and it did look good. (I had that same that scum line and it is nasty above the waterline...I may raise the bottom paint a bit on this new boat just to avoid that issue)
The problem I have with the micron is the colors...I just don't find them that appealing. The blue is too light and the black is not really black. I had black and it was more brown then black. Yeah it looked OK but I want it to look great! I was thinking of going to a green bottom on this boat for a bottom paint and changing brands to get a better look, that is really why I posted the question. I never liked green bottoms but saw a boat painted with a teal green bottom paint with a dark green boot and it had a yellow hull and it looked great!

No question ablative is the way to go, at least for me anyway. I hate a buildup of paint that doesn't work anymore, no thanks.

I used the Micron Extra last spring with a epoxy barrier coat. Pulled the boat sunday and there was only a light scum under the stern. No barnacles. Boat sat in the water since May.

I let boat sit in the water for 2 weeks to form a nature water line and then painted 2" above that. Worked pissah.
