The first picture is sunset on the outside rip on Badgers rock in the merrimack river..

the second picture is of sunset over the Rt 1 bridge on the Merrimack leaving Bridge marina

and lastly, sunrise on joppa flats, Merrimack river in June..

either that or it has been dead 30-45 minutes... I always notice that fish I keep get washed out color , but then the color comes back an hour or so later... they go from dark, olive/black back, to sand, back to dark... dorsal fin looks like its still up, so its probably alive, and like you said, been on sand for a while...
