Those LEDs are sweet.

Question is, do you want a good TV for less money or squeal like a hyena for the LED?

I bought a decent Sharp Aquos LCD 1080, 120hz for my bed room a few weeks back. In my living room,we have a 50" Panasonci Viera Plasma, 720 about 3 years old.
the picture quality of the older Plasma is SO MUCH better than the LCD. even though its not 1080p, even with a blue ray, the plasma is better.
Do some online research, the LEDs are nice and slim, but the picture quality is not always rated that high. CNET.com has excellent reviews.

Question is, do you want to squeal like a hyena for the LED?

I bought a 40" Sony 1080 120hz LCD last year. I also have a Panasonic Viera 1080. The Sony blows it away. I think I paid about $1100 for the Sony but it's something like $850 on Amazon now. I'm think I'm ready for another or a 46" if it fits my living room well.

I love my Samsung (not a LED). Someday it will be a monitor when I upgrade the main TV

I fought the LCD vs. Plasma battle a while back.....(I know that wasn't your question :smash: )

But..I used to work with a guy who used to work for a T.V. Repair company. On his advice I stayed with the LCD over the Plasma.

I admit the plasma does have a better, more colorful display....but again on his advice, he said they receive A LOT more service calls in repairing Plasma's vs. the LCD models.

I sacrificed the quality for the longevity. But then again I'm a broken greenhorn.:jump1:

I went 52" Panasonic plasma a few months back after much research and headaches. Plasma vs LCD:wall: I am very happy and the picture is awesome , when I get a chance to watch the darn thing. Those new LED tv's looked spectacular but I can't see spending that much $$$ on a friggin idiot box.

A lot of the rear projection sets (both DLP and LCD) from a few years ago have really turned into troublemakers. Class action lawsuits are in effect for many models of Sony, LG, Toshiba, Samsung, and more as they continue to fail. Most of the companies are as best they can dodging responsibility and washing their hands of them. Might be worth seeing if yours is one of those models in case there's an extended warranty or class action lawsuit that applies. Personally I have passionate hatred of Sony now, my RP-TV has discoloration on parts of the screen on a 4 year old TV and they couldn't care less. It was NOT cheap and I loved the picture and wouldn't even think of replacing it except repairs are so ridiculously expensive.

LED's are nothing more then an LCD TV, it's just the back lighting is different (and can be locally dimmed resulting in better black levels). LED lights are rugged by nature as well. Could make for a TV with long term durability with great picture quality. Being that I'm scarred by my expensive Sony tragedy, I'm interested...

My neighbor has one and I have to say it looks really good, even sitting at off angle which is something CNET really felt was a weakness. Great colors, blacks, whites, everything looked natural (the way I like it) once the settings were played with. I really couldn't find a fault with it. I'm in love...

I think I'm going with plasma though for picture quality and price or holding out for LED's to drop more. If I had the cash though, there's no question I'd be going for one of the Samsung LED-LCD's.

Rick, I have all Sharp Aquos in my house. 52" 120hz i the livingroom, everyone loves the picture. 32" in the bedroom, andd a 13" in the kitchen which is going to get upgraded to a 19" . Aquos rules everything else drools...
