This is not to say tog are not there, we didn't catch. Kayak is doable, especially if you are using catching a 157lb tuna as the standard (ha ha). Attached is a harbor map. Upper left is the passage through the hurricane gate. The length of the double-dashed lines is about 2.8 mi for scaling.
