I have been noticing the cost of fixed mounted outdoor video cams are pretty low now...sub $100 in some cases, has anyone looked into rigging up one or more of these as a way to digitally record the fishing action in the cockpit?

This looks like it can be done on the cheap now.

Yup, I'm doing it every trip out. Bought the Creative VadoHD, 2hr 720p, 8GB camera ($139) and a mounting tripod ($30) from Amazon, search SuperClamp. Works great.

The camera was a special purchase via "Field&Stream" which included accessories: extra battery, chargers, covers, etc.

Here's and example (hand held not mounted):

I've gotten so I can record 10's min to hours then just edit into short clips for posting. You are also able to take bunches of short clips and merge into a long video.

Thought about for tuna trips, just have not done it yet.
I even bought the camera, an IPEX HD camera, takes stills or video. Records in full HD. The size of 2 cell phones
A 2GB SD card holds 1 hour of full HD video. That cost me around 150. EXtra battery 10 bucks. Got one of those cheap plastic tripods with folding legs and a velcro strap will work fine attached to my windshield support pole. NExt season..but its just more crap to bring on board...:smash:

The "SuperClamp" would work well on a headboard too. :btu:

As fun as it is to watch, ultimately it is another thing to break and or get in the way....
Besides, the language we'd have to edit out.... I've got a great video from the edge, but I can't post it... too many 4-letter words for this site
