I have a 4' dia. one right next to my house but I could never cut it down it is too beautiful. Worse part is when the gypsy moths fill my gutters to the brim with their rotten leave filled feces. Until, cowboy girl clear cutted the neighborhood it was amazing. It still is beatifully done, just brighter now. Nothing better to improve soil than to rototill them into soil or use around all shrubs as mulch or into a compost pile for future use. I usually take any of my neighbors leaves.
