When other shops said "Oh, I'm not sure we'll have the parts. Then if any lugs are frozen... If we have to do XXXX...", the Buckos guys told me to bring it down and they'd have it done in a few days. 3 days later I got the call that it was ready and they did an excellent job. Also, they give something like a $5 discount in the off-season. RIJIMMY 12-23-2009, 09:23 AM Thanks. Buckos it is. I'll be making a trip down there in a few weeks. Back Beach 12-23-2009, 09:28 AM My brother has a bunch of high end shimano(trinidads, calcuttas) stuff serviced there every year and they do a great job. fishbones 12-23-2009, 09:56 AM Jimmy, I have an Abu and a couple of Penns I was planning on taking down to Buckos this winter. I don't have the patience to deal with the small parts myself anymore. If you want, I can bring your reels or you can come down with me. Jim. I go by Fall River every day to and from work, I'll drop them off along with mine if you would prefer. stcroixman 12-24-2009, 10:40 AM I sent a couple of Quantums to Buckos' get it in by 1/15 and you save some $$$. I have been buying parts fromthem for years too for my Daiwa's basswipe 12-26-2009, 09:08 AM I also recommend Buckos. Don't wait to long though.Come March/April time all the procrastinators are putting their reels in and the turnaround time can be quite long. Sea Dangles 12-26-2009, 08:38 PM I know of 2 people who had very high end Jap spinning reels serviced at Buckos last offseason that were extremely upset at the lack of quality in service.I would recommend Edwards bait and tackle. afterhours 12-26-2009, 09:05 PM I know of 2 people who had very high end Jap spinning reels serviced at Buckos last offseason that were extremely upset at the lack of quality in service.I would recommend Edwards bait and tackle. scott p? piemma 12-28-2009, 06:40 AM Jim: I send all my Shimanos to "Shimano". $35 per reel and they do a complete overhaul. Go to: Repair Services (http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/index/customer_service0/Repair_Services.html) you will find a repair form (PDF). Just fill it out and send with $35. They repaired 2, 400s I have. Minor stuff such as the drag slipping and the level wind not working correctly. They went over and above what was needed and replaced some screws, etc. machinist 12-29-2009, 07:36 PM mike bucko, ernie, and the rest of the staff are the best. Buckos JohnR 12-30-2009, 09:53 AM I would have no problem with the Abus, Calcutta, or Penns and such going to Buckos. I have only had one problem with a reel they did over the years (oddly enough, two identical Abu 6000s and one was great the other nossomuch). Not sure which higher end Jap reels Dangles is meaning but if it was high end Shimano I'd go to Shimano and high end Daiwa not sure where I would go, whether Buckos or someone else. River's End does reel repair and is authorized for VS (at least) SWE has self repair stuff for VS. fishbones 01-11-2010, 01:45 PM Jimmy, I'll probably be heading down to Fall River end of January. Less than a week turnaround time if we get the reels in before spring. I'll let you know when I can carve out some free time on a Saturday to go. spence 01-11-2010, 05:26 PM When I sent my 400TE to Shimano for service they sent me a brand new reel. -spence fatcow 01-11-2010, 06:22 PM send those dogfights and 6000gts direct to daiwa corp in cali great people and its only $25 to service any parts that are needed they'll call to tell u price befor repair.:kewl: afterhours 01-11-2010, 09:16 PM self service for my brood :) .... vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
