Yeah, I can't wait to try that one at 3 AM in November with wet cold hands.

I'm from the KISS school---4' of 50# clear Ande tied off to a 150# barrel swivel.

It s not really that hard if you look closely. Its actually half a blood knot joined to a double surgeons loop. the boodknot half is formed in the braid while the double loop half is in the heavier leader material. If you look at it that way , all you need to do is tie two halfs you already know. Piece of cake! :)

Oh BTW , the trouble with using swivels is you can't use them as a true shock leader and even just as a fighting leader , the wear from casting occurs in the thinner running line. When wear is the failure mechanism , you want it to occur in the thicker line. So IMO its best to join a leader with a leader knot , not a swivel. i will admit its a lot easier with a swivel.

I've never had an eel complain that the leader didn't wrap around the spool - perhaps if I were a keeper of the Ditch and a purveyor of lead but clean line & good knots work wonders for the plugs and eels I use :D - and when i get dopey or tired, I'll throw on a spro
