Just got this in via e-mail:

Hello All, It has happened again. Buckeye Brook is used as a dump for Glycol. DEM and RIAC have been notified.

For reference, Buckeye Brook is considered one of the more productive herring runs in the state. It also borders TF Green airport and is in the debate of having many of its wetlands reclaimed for airport expansion which would likely KILL the run...

I Grew up along Buckeye brook, have fished it extensively along its entire length inside the airport property before it was fenced off. I was in college at the time and I did a term paper on its pollution sites for an "Environmental" class I was taking. The main pollution comes from a tributary creek from the old Warwick landfill..this creek is pure "orange" in color from god knows what. The old dump is a federal "superfund" area, God knows what is dumped in there..long buried. I have seen fish and turtles...alive but that same orange color.
The Buckeyes or herring come in from Conimicut area where the mouth of the brook is and swim up miles through Warwick to get to Warwick pond where they spawn. This pollution has been going on for years I did this study back in 1984!!! The herring are still going strong but not like when I was younger. I think low water conditions in the last few years has had a dramatic affect on thier ability to reach the pond. I hope the airport is not going to mess with the brook flow at all... that would cuase major problems IMO. I don't think they could because the brook is an outflow for Warwick pond, I think it would cause some flooding problems. Lets hope the DEM is on top of this.
