I am clueless when it comes to classical, I know yo yo ma (cello) and John Willaims (guitar). My 5yr old has been showing a lot of interest in the violin lately and I'd like to get some good music for him to listen to, can anyone reccomend a classical player?

Try Hillary Hahn (http://www.hilaryhahn.com/bio.shtml) - a musical prodigy, now a young woman of about 30 who has lived up to her promise. I've got several cd's - you can borrow them if you want.

Try Pandora, select Classical then Violin Features. I'm listening now.

Jascha Heifetz. He has several YouTube videos. Also, Itzak Perlman.

Two of the greatest classical violinists to ever draw a bow. Many consider Heifetz to be the best ever.

Glenn Dicterow, the current concertmaster (first chair violin) of the NY Philharmonic, is also another good choice.

You can check out all of them on YouTube and decide if you want to do an Amazon search for their recordings.
