Wayne as part of an all-start cast, Miles up front. Man, Tony Williams walks right past the camera and he is soooo young here. Almost ancient history this.

Somebody should put this Montreux performance on DVD remastered.

Speaking of ancient history. Wayne up front with your prototypical all-star Jazz Messengers lineup.

LOL I see a soprano sax and I think of that guy. I almost don't even want to listen to anyone playing one. I have complete dislike for KG:uhuh:

I am fairly certain that while playing with Miles he was the main writer of most of the work they did. I think on one album he wrote everything. I also think that was my favorite era of his career but I also really enjoy the Weather Report stuff too. The more I read about him he is known almost more as a writer among his peers.

I have been very surprised at the amount of hardly listened to music cd's at the local libraries. Once a week a hit the library for my weekly book on tape, cd, and rummage thru the music. I have burned well over 150 cd's over the years so if you like music hit your library you may be surprised at all the free music available.

Great stuff. I used to love jazz. Still do but don't listen as much as I did. The Bill Evans trio, Miles, Keith Jarret. But one of my favorite albums is Mingus the Black Saint and the Sinnner Lady.

looks like I got some new stuff to investigate, not familiar with those Mingus albums. Thanks

Bob it is ok not to be able to dissect the music I can't either, all I know is I like it a lot:uhuh:

Goosefish, Im impressed, not many people know that recording. Paul - I've got that Mingus album, one of my all time favs. I can burn/send along to you. Its not so much a "normal" jazz recording with lots of great solos, it has amazing compositions. Someting to put on loud, turn off the lights and really listen to. Like advanced big band jazz. Also have some older Blue Note Wayne Shorter. You know I mostly like the old stuff and stuff with Art Blakey.
