Seminar and Class Schedule 2010:



Jan. 30, - Winter fishing for Stripers – Bob Sampson – Bob has been at this for over 30 years and can help you survive the winter by sampling some of the nearby winter over stripers.
Feb. 7,14 March 7,14- noon - 3 – Fly Tying with Conn/ RI Coastal Fly Fishers – Just show up with a vise and tie along some of the best local tiers.
Feb. 17,24 March 3 – Rod Building Classes – “Q” Kresser – Learn the basics of building a rod. Three evenings, reservation and fee required, call shop for details.
Feb. 27 – Stripers in the Connecticut River – “Q” Kresser & Pat Abate – We have long believed that this river has a world class spring fishery. Let’s share some of the knowledge.
Date Pending – Light Tackle Tuna – Capt. Andrew Cumings – Another world class fishery that takes place on Cape Cod will be simplified. You can trailer and experience the fishing of a lifetime.
March 13 – Fluke Tactics – Bob Sampson – With the surge in sandeels its time to try shallower water techniques for fluke. Bob has some different takes on snagging a few fillets.
March 27 – Striper Surf Day – 10am – 4pm. Our annual celebration of chasing stripers through the waves. Speakers are Toby Lapinski and Steve McKenna plus factory reps, food, demonstrations and great time with old friends. More details to follow.
April 10 – Trolling the Tube and Worm – Capt. Pat Renna - Gotta be the most relaxed way to catch bass, learn from the maker of the “T-man” tubes.
April 17 – Fishing Soft Plastics – Capt. Jim White – “How to” by top notch guide who wrote the book on how to use these extremely effective lures. Jim will also be signing his new book “Monster Shallow Water Stripers
April 24 – Saltwater Fly Fishing School – Lou Tabory, “Q” Kresser - A full day of learning the techniques and tricks of saltwater fly fishing both in classroom and on the beach with hands on instruction from experts. Fee is $150 and includes lunch.
May 1 – Catching Bonito & False Albacore – Capt. Jack Balint – Jack shares some of his years of local experience in catching these sometimes very frustrating fish
May 8 – Catching Bunker with Nets – “Q” Kresser - This is a demonstration on how to throw a cast net and use a gill net for catching live menhaden.
May 12 – Rigging Eels – Pat Abate – An evening of hands on instruction on how to rig one of the oldest of bass catchers.

All seminars start at 11am and are free unless noted.

Just a heads up to guys who plan on going to any of the seminars and this is their first time down there. The directions on their website are incorrect. The coming from the north or coming from the south directions need to be reversed. There is no exit #68 coming from the south. You need to take exit #68 coming from the north or #67 coming from the south. After that, the directions are correct.

I tried to get Pat to have DZ do his needle presentation like 2 years ago but it didn't happen. If someone has any pull with Pat, bring it up with him.

STRIPER SURF DAY --- Its coming up in a week SATURDAY, MARCH 27th from 10 to 4, its free just show up.
Seminar Lineup
STEVE McKENNA 10:30 am ---- A season without eels. Steve talks about an intensive year of fishing only metal lipped swimmers with some interesting observations.
TOBY LAPINSKI noon ---- Cuttyhunk. Toby will talk about his adventures, misadventures and other ventures on the the hallowed ground of striper fishing.
"CRAZY ALBERTO" KNIE 2:00 pm ---- My 3 " Go To " Lures. Alberto is telling the how,when and why to use his three favorites.


They'll be factory reps, demonstrations and plenty of surf rats around. The grill will be going, lies being told and some sales and specials will be had. We'll wind up the day with another great door prize raffle, this year including a Van Staal reel. The moose chili will be supplemented with some domestic variety this year. If you'd like to bring a favorite dish to share, please do it will be appreciated.
