third time using crescendo 175t i got used. its been thoroughly cleaned after each use, and seems to be operating fine. problem? not drawing paint. it blows water thru, but not paint. i can get it to draw a little then it stops. i'm using ceramcoat paint from michaels, thinned about 50% w/water. this worked before, but it ain't now. any ideas? compressor is fine. this is what happens when you experiment without knowledge! if anyone has any ideas, thanks!

Are you pulling out of a paint cup or a bottle? If the latter, check that the air hole through the bottle cap is not plugged, the tube is not partially plugged, or up against the bottom of the bottle. If the former, then maybe your brush needs cleaning and/or you need more air pressure.

More air or thinner paint, using the Ceramcoats, Anita's and other off the shelf acrylics, they need to be pretty well thinned, which can be a real pain in the butt to get right using the small quantities we use, like in the paint cup. Should flow like milk. This is why I normally spend the extra few bucks for Createx and spray it right out of the bottle.
I have the same gun and it will spray those paints fine, maybe not as nice as an Iwata.

don't forget temperature, if it's below 70 it won't spray I have found.

and what those guys said.

i have createx and i had to thin it out alot or the tip would clog. i got a cheap airbrush from harbor frieght for $14 . the tip is small .35mm and createx is for .5mm or you need to thin it out. soak the tip in solution. i got the createx stuff its alchol and water mixed i think.

Jeff and I spoke about this situation using non createx paint. I mixed the paint 50/50. I accurately mix small amounts using a 10cc syringe. I draw up 5 cc of paint, 2.5cc of water and 2.5 cc windex. The mix looks thin but looks aren't what you go by. Spraying the paint shows your mix is good. If your gun shoots water then you need thinner paint and I did notice some acrylics need 30lbs to shoots. with this 50/50 most colors for detail shoot @ 15lbs. Createx paint I also cut. I too have a 3.5mm Harbor Freight airbrush which requires warm milk flow. Yes we all go thru " airbrush hell". If rattle cans didnt smell, I wouldn't go crazy with the airbrush. The combos of detail looks great but heck it's "fish bait".

Bear air is having a buy one, get one free on selected airbrushes. Peak's are one of the brands. Decent brush.

Jeff,

I do all of my airbrushing in an detached unheated garage over the winter so its very rarely ever 65 degrees (as you will soon find out). I suggest pumping up the pressure and thinning the paint more and stirring more frequently. I use an iwata and is gravity fed versus in a bottle. Turn up the pressure and let me know if that helps.

Kindest,
Billy

I've found some colors/batches of ceramacoat need a little more thinning than others.... practice and experience will bring these problems to an end...

I have a 175... and love the gun ( I love my Iwata's more) I use the 175 strickly for spraying metalics... and relegate the other two for the finer work.... BTW.. I hate painting( I think I"ve mentioned this a time or two).... I'm contemplating fishin 'em nakid next year .. just sealer and e-tex...when it comes down to it.. fish dont give a fat rats @$$ about the color ... only what it represents......
