BigFish 02-18-2010, 07:24 AM My son moved in with us in early December and brought with him a hamster named "Moscow". He is a cute and friendly little guy and we have gotten close.....I am a pet person. Sadly over the last few days he has not been active or eating or drinking from what I can see.....or running on his wheel. I think he is dying so I need to take him to the vet to have him put down as I do not want him to suffer. Call me crazy but I am gonna miss the little guy.:(
killie 02-18-2010, 07:55 AM do you want us to prey for your hamster?
fishsmith 02-18-2010, 08:02 AM Crazy :smash:
save the vet bill and put him in the freezer
BigFish 02-18-2010, 08:16 AM You guys are mean.:devil2:

Call Richard Gere.....he might be able to help....Just don't leave them in a room alone together
eastendlu 02-18-2010, 10:31 AM I suggest 3/0 siwash on the tail.
JohnnyD 02-18-2010, 10:34 AM niko is right with the freezer. Freezer isn't as effective as it is with reptiles but they're so small, it'll be quick and it shouldn't suffer.
On a normal day, I'd be giving you jabs too... but my girlfriend just called me a little while ago to tell me that her 12 year old dog took an overnight turn for the worse (been on experimental Chemo for 6 months and battling cancer for 2+ years) and will need to be put down.
BigFish 02-18-2010, 10:42 AM Sorry for my loss would be good. Never mind.
The Dad Fisherman 02-18-2010, 10:49 AM Sorry Larry.....
Sorry for your loss...tough to lose a pet.

That's just not right, but very funny!:biglaugh:
Why buy one of those rebotic hamster toys when you can make your own for a lot less. (Plus if you use toy cars that you can wind up you can make it move on its own.):gf::sled:

Sorry Lawrence I got caught up in the free for all. I hate to see any of gods creatures suffer. Take him to the vet and do it right.
Redsoxticket 02-18-2010, 11:29 AM Sorry for your loss.
There are several species of hawks that will take Mosco.
Bring Mosco to a large open flat field such as a highway clover. Then tie. Mosco down with a string on top of a cardboard box preferably white. Now get far enough away and watch for the hawk come down and take Mosco.

JD, At some point that has to be the BEST call! Put my dog of 12yrs down last April due to the dreaded (bone) cancer. Our battle was only 4 months but still a very tough day, actually 1:30AM when he woke me to say it was time. Tell your GF, sorry for her loss.
Larry, Gassing is an alternative to freezer: put in a plastic bag and attach to the tailpipe of the car. Run about 5 min to fill bag with enough gas and time.
Being a biologist by training, personally I'd go with just breaking the neck!
