View Full Version : The Ditch
Oh God I can here it now...."What the hell is he going to post" ......I know trust me sometimes i hate to mention the place, just cause at times it seems like you cant get away from the mass quantaties of anglers, but honestly this place is no secret. I'm not spot burning here just wanted to share some pics from last year. I have been working on my site all day and was looking thru more then 1500 photos of canal I took last year alone. I really trully love this place, not just cause of the fishing but the history, people, wildlife, scenery and all about it. Dont get me wrong I still have a soft spot for the surf, but living close by has really lend me to appreciate a place i once had no desire to fish except for a week if that durring a season. Its not an easy place and the local anglers can be just as hard on a newbie, but that has let me find my own ways and even new ones on fishing it's banks....last year was a good year for me with lots of big fish, but I worked hard for it I think. I cant wait to get back to it. This will be my third year living here, so hopefully all those hard hours and lots of homework will pay of.......Enjoy the pics theres a lot of them

I know...do you know how many damn freight trains i've hooked just to have them pop off or straighten a hook and then I crank this bass across the top of the water from the middle of the canal on 60# test on a breakaway.
This photo is funny but wouldn't even get a reaction from me at the canal. It's a strange place.

Great pics, I've only fished the canal 4-5 times, its a cool spot I hope to learn more about. I did run into the guy on his bike with the radio blasting, it was @ 10pm and I was sure I heard music, suddenly this guy passed by and I just laughed out loud.

Of course you're gonna fish it more after being there for the monster I caught last fall. :rotf2: Maybe this year we can make a few spring trips when the weather will be above 40 degrees and there won't be 50 mph winds and frozen rain pelting us. Roys pics make it look so nice there.

at the exact same time the canal heats up in the spring, so does N. bay so I have to use the time with my expensive toy.
JoeBass 03-02-2010, 02:22 PM Great pics....thank you!

You can't be out on the fiberglass jetty every night. I'm taking you to one of the spots I showed you last fall that's great in the spring. Technically it's not the canal, but it's close enough. You can even bring your eels if you want.
striper1177 03-02-2010, 03:37 PM Not only do I look good in those pictures but I also took some really good ones. :grins:
Cant wait to see what this weekend brings.

Bruce doesn't need a seagull to get his jig across. :rotf2:
mag minnow 03-02-2010, 09:04 PM I was there the w-end the little tender / service trains were crossing the canal. Made me feel like my fishing isn't quite as equipment intensive as some other hobbies.
